As we enter the 2019/2020 high school basketball season in Kansas. Prep Hoops will preview some of the Kansas City Area high schools. These preview articles will give you details on key players, season expectations and more.
In this article, we preview the Olathe West Lady Owls. OW is coming off a below .500 season a year ago and look to turn it around under new head coach Rick Rhoades.
Players to Watch
Bailey Collar, Guard, Junior, (2021) PGH #4 Ranked Player in Kansas
Collar, a second-team all-conference player from a year ago looks to have an even better junior season. She finished 3rd in the league in scoring, at 15pg with most of those coming from behind the arc. The left-hand shooting guard is an elite level shooter that has an effortless, yet consistent stroke. Good IQ player with a personality to lead. Look for her to help West compete in the Sunflower League.
Mackenzie Hart, Guard, Junior, (2021)
Coming off a sophomore year where she led the league in both assist and steals, Hart will be looked upon this year to help lead once again. A great on-ball defender that can disrupt opposing guards using her speed and strength. One of the most naturally gifted passers I have seen. Has remarkable court awareness and instincts go along with it. A very underrated scorer yet can fill it up. With constant and consistent aggressiveness look for Kenzie to be one of the stock risers this season.
Michelle Anderson, Forward, Junior, (2021)
The returning starter was key last year for Lady Owls. A selfless player that leaves it all on the court each game Anderson is a good rebounder and can finish in close. An active defender that tends to always be in the right places at the right time.
Anaiya Uhde, Guard, Junior, (2020)
Recent Johnson County Community College signee, Uhde is another key returner from a year ago. A good-sized guard for the Lady Owls, she can stretch the defense with her perimeter game as well as drive and finish. Look for Uhde to finish her Olathe West career strong.
Macy Glover, Sydney Loveless, Ashley Gibson are some key contributors coming back from a year ago that should help this upcoming season.
