Trinity Massenburg, Poly, Center
Trinity is rugged but raw six footer who has only been playing for a couple of years. She has made rapid progress and will contribute on both ends of the court on a talented Poly team. Defense and rebounding are automatic with Trinity and she is showing a lot of confidence on offense. She will be one of the next big things in Baltimore.
Paris Locke, McDonogh, Wing
Paris is a very polished and mature player for a rookie. She has a very versatile game which features 3 point range to go with some nice post moves. She has already chalked up a 20 point 12 rebound stat line in a scrimmage.
Aryss Mactoon, St. Timothy’s, Wing
Aryss is a super athletic wing with big time potential. She has a ridiculous motor and is a real smooth finisher. She should be a day one starter and major contributor in her first season.
Mariah Sanabia, Spalding, Guard
I had the pleasure of watching Ms. Sanabia a few times this fall and I love what I saw. Long, fast, explosive and the three words that come immediately to mind. I am hoping Spalding puts the ball in her hands and lets her develop into a big point guard. The kid has all the tools to become a nightmare defender as she has length and very quick feet and hands. She comes up with a ton of steals, deflections and rebounds.
Hawa Doumbaya, Mount Carmel, Center
At 6’4″ it will be hard to miss this promising freshman post player. Hawa is a recent transfer from New York City, and she flashed some of her tremendous potential during fall league play. She has a nice drop step move, and she can dominate on the offensive glass at times. She should average a double double right out of the gate.
Da’bryia Clark, Poly, Shooting Guard.
Bri is already a professional scorer at this point in her young career. She is programmed for one thing and that is to get buckets. She will probably get minutes at point guard but that won’t change her focus. Sit back and watch her score from everywhere on the court. She is still growing and should end up well over six feet.
Makaela Quimby, McDonogh, Wing
It’s been exciting to watch “Mak” develop into a polished wing prospect over the years. She’s excellent in transition and she has a sweet jumper from long range. She should get major minutes and play a big role for Coach Brad Rees.
Kameryn Dorsey, St. Frances, Point Guard
Kam is one of my favorite 2023 point guards. She is fearless and tough and sets the tone defensively for her team. Kam can run an offense and looks to pass first, but she is a capable scorer as well. Looking forward to watching her snatch minutes from older players as the season goes on.
Samiya Nasir, Howard, Guard
Her nickname is “Chicago” because that’s where she recently moved here from. I love this kid’s game. She is tenacious and fearless on both ends of the court. She’s an exceptional athlete and a good finisher in the paint. Her IQ is exceptional for a freshman guard so I expect Coach Scott Robinson to have her playing major minutes in the rotation. She
Kamari Sims, Spalding, Wing
Kamari has a very versatile and mature game for a freshman. She has good size at about 5’11 and can handle the ball. She’s not afraid to go inside and get buckets either. Just put her on the court and watch good things happen.
Gabrielle Kennerly, Guard, Howard
GK is on the mend from a torn ACL, but this talented guard will make her debut possibly in December or January. She is a difference maker on both ends of the court because she’s a high IQ player with exceptional athleticism and skills. Let’s see how long it takes for to get back to 100% because she will be worth the wait for Coach Scott Robinson.
Andrea Cherisier, Forward, St. Timothy’s
I think St. Timothy’s has a chance to contend for the IAAM B championship because of their young talent. Andrea has always been an effective inside scorer, but she has added an improved handle and some range on her shot. Look for her to put up some impressive numbers this season. She’s a very physical player with a nice shooting touch so she’s able to get shots off against most defenders
