Both teams feature high major recruits in the 2020 class and real state title aspirations in their respective classifications.

What’s on the line: RPI will come into play here. A win can really help either team and the way the RPI works, a loss shouldn’t hurt too much either if both teams perform as well as expected the rest of the season. Bragging rights or revenge will also come into play. Mt. Spokane went to Cashmere and handed the Bulldogs a loss, despite 40 points from Hailey Van Lith. Cashmere will have their shot at revenge this go around, but Mt. Spokane will look to prove that they are the standard in Eastern Washington basketball for another year.
Cashmere’s Superstar:
5’7 point guard Hailey Van Lith does literally everything for Cashmere and has since her freshman year. Every time she steps on the floor she is one of the best rebounders, defenders, ball handlers and scorers. Her impact goes right across the board and she will have a huge responsibility on both sides of the ball to give Cashmere a chance versus Mt. Spokane. 2022 Riley Johnson did a great job on the defensive end last year and will have to help provide a scoring punch.
Mt. Spokane’s Team Attack:
Gone are current college freshman Emily Nelson (Saint Martin’s) and Aspyn Adams (Loyola Marymount) and then junior Niveya Henley (transfer), but the Wildcats return a solid core nonetheless and will benefit from some transfers. Mt. Spokane returns UW commit Jayda Noble and senior guard Emma Main. Junior Tia Allen and her sophomore sister, Teila should have increased roles. Both are Division 1 volleyball recruits and bring jumping ability and great instincts to the court. The Wildcats are getting two transfers for the second year in a row with 6’0 small forward Jaimyn Sides and 6’1 forward Sophie Metoyer who will be playing volleyball at Seattle University next year. There is also one more guard transfer, but I have yet to see her play. Mt. Spokane will use a swarm of athleticism to wear teams down. If they play an uptempo and aggressive style of play, they will be a difficult matchup for Cashmere with their superior length and size.
