Apopka outlasted Seminole 57-49 behind a strong performance from senior guard Hilani Cantone.
Here is a look at the top performers from the matchup:
Hilani Cantone (Apopka)
The top player in this tilt, 2020 5’8″ guard Hilani Cantone had eight points at the half. She then turned on the jets and felt a true rhythm with a 13-point third quarter. Finishing with 27 points, I loved Cantone’s awareness, shot selection and comfort level as a mid-range jump shooter. A transfer from DME, she is going to make some college program super happy next fall.
Emily Jarrell (Seminole)
A 2020 Utah State commit, 6’1″ forward Emily Jarrell basically lived at the free throw line in this game. She had 13 points and 15 rebounds and was in on basically every single play of the day for the Seminoles offense. She is very skilled going inside.
Morgan Dillard (Seminole)
The leading scorer for Seminole on the day, 2021 5’9″ guard Morgan Dillard recorded 15 points along with eight rebounds. She was getting it going from deep at times and was able to draw contact at the point of attack.
K’Nari Holliday (Apopka)
A bruiser and grinder for Apopka, 2022 5’10” forward K’Nari Holliday had eight points for the Blue Darters and had some good finishes along the way. Holliday likes to mix it up on the boards and down low off passes.
Mary McMillian (Apopka)
A superb ballhandler and quick twitch passer, I was highly impressed with the passing and creativeness from 2020 5’7″ guard Mary McMillian for Apopka. She paced Cantone well and the two feed off one another throughout games.
Aniyah Tillmon & Mone Wynn (Seminole)
Finishing with seven points, there were some nice moments for 2022 5’8″ guard Aniyah Tillmon. She helped in transition play and had some very crafty finishes. As for 2020 6’2″ forward Mone Wynn, she was a true rim protector with a trio of blocks, five points and 12 boards. I loved her energy and footwork.
