TCA took care of business at home. The Trojans got out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the Eagles 58-25. Here are four prospects who caught my eye during this private school matchup.
Olivia Brennan – 2022 Shooting Guard Trinity Christian Academy (Addison) – This girl is a certified sniper from behind the arc. She is an elite shooter. Brennan got off to a scorching hot start by making her first three shots from deep and scoring the Trojans’ first nine points of the game. She showed that she can be an effective and efficient shooter off the dribble and in catch and shoot scenarios. The sophomore shooting guard also showed off her range by drilling a deep contested three. Additionally, Brennan is a tremendous ball handler who can run the point for her team when needed. However, she is at her best when she is playing off the ball.
Schuyler Noordhoff – 2022 5’9 Wing Trinity Christian Academy (Addison) – Noordhoff is listed as a wing, but she has the skill set of a guard. I’d classify her as a point forward because she operated as TCA’s primary ball handler for much of this game. She is an excellent distributor, particularly in drive and kick scenarios. Noordhoff is a long and athletic playmaker. Her length causes problems for opponents at the defensive end, and it allows her to contribute on the glass as well. Furthermore, she has a nice little floater in her arsenal that she isn’t afraid to use when attacking the basket. She is proof that you can leave your mark on a game without scoring a ton of points.
Sophia Miller – 2023 Combo Guard Trinity Christian Academy (Addison) – I am always impressed when I see a freshman who can contribute at the varsity level. Miller came off the bench for TCA in their season opener, but I wouldn’t be shocked if she finds her way into the starting lineup by the end of the season. She is a speedy ball handler who thrives at playing downhill. The freshmen guard is a crafty scorer too. She utilized a pump fake to get a defender to leave their feet, then laid it in for an easy two as time expired in the second quarter. This is a 2023 prospect that needs to be on your radar.
Taylor Hurst – 2020 5’10 Guard Prince of Peace – Hurst is a versatile guard who can get it done in a variety of ways at both ends. Offensively, she has a really nice mid-range game and is an extremely accurate passer. Her height allows her to see over the defense and get the ball to open teammates. I loved her ability to be a facilitator. She is also a strong finisher at the rim who isn’t bothered by contact on the drive. Defensively, Hurst can guard any position. Her size and strength enable her to be a physical defender in the post as well as out on the perimeter.
