***Be aware that the phrase “unsung hero” is not implying that these players are not good or elite, just that they aren’t the “star” of their team.
Autumn Franks 5’2 2021 G Casteel
I think Liz Cruz and Daeja Johnson will be the main focus point of Casteel’s season. However, Franks is an absolute pest on defense and will have a huge impact on their season. If she can disturb other team’s top scorers or slow them down, that has a huge affect on their overall team success.
Amelia Coker 5’5 2020 G Ironwood
Mehgan Strickler has transferred to Bella Vista and Ironwood has a 6’5 center in Nyakuer Aguek. With the loss of Strickler, there is a ton of scoring that needs to be filled and with all eyes on Aguek, I think Coker could step up and fill that role. Coker will have to really step her game up and in doing so, she will help her overall team success.
Amoret Maxwell 5’11 2021 G Millennium/Trayanna Crisp 5’8 2022 G Millennium
Millennium has two unsung heroes and that’s a testament to how deep on a team they are. With the senior leadership of Ali Zelaya and Jasmine Singleton on the court, I think those two will probably be the main focus point. Both prospects are committed to D1 programs and will surely gain a ton of attention on opposing team’s scouting reports. This leaves the door open for Crisp and Amoret to have huge seasons. While media may focus on the D1 commits, we need to make sure these girls are recognized as well. Crisp and Amoret bring a lot to the table for Millennium and are a huge reason they are so deep and will likely win 5A state championship.
