In this article:
Start of the season is right around the corner but this weekend Bullitt East is hosting a big scrimmage featuring several of the state’s top teams and players. Here’s a preview of Saturday’s games.
Central vs Meade County (10:00)
The action gets started early as high scoring Kendall Wingler (EKU commit) heads to Louisville to take on the tough guard Sophomore duo of Amaya Asher and Tiffanie Floyd. Expect plenty of points to be scored in this one.
Webster County vs Scott (12:00)
Webster County is led by recent Oakland City commit Marissa Austin and Scott features one of the best players in the state in Junior Mya Meredith. Meredith is a scoring machine with her eyes set on a 10th region championship while Webster expects to be one of the top teams in the 2nd region this season.
Bullitt East vs Ryle (2:00)
The reigning and defending state champion Lady Raiders are led by Ms. Basketball favorite Maddie Scherr. Ryle is probably the early favorite for a repeat championship. Bullitt East has multiple players who will be college players down the road. Lexi Taylor, Emma Egan and Kennedy Griffin form a very tough trio that will be tough to top in the 6th region.
Manual vs Owensboro Catholic (4:00)
Two of the top teams in the state, both Catholic and Manual feature multiple D1 prospects. Hannah McKay has already signed with Murray State and Manual Junior Tiarra East could join her in the future as Murray has already offered the Junior wing. Daisha White is another name to watch for the Crimson.
Sacred Heart vs Bethlehem (6:00)
Sacred Heart is one of the best teams in the city of Louisville and capable of winning state. Seniors Destinee Marshall (Radford), Erin Toller (Kentucky) and Kristen Clemons (Belmont volleyball) are hoping to finish their careers on top while Juniors Ella Thompson and Amelia Hodges are looking to return to Rupp Arena this season after falling in the Sweet 16 back in March.
Mercy vs Woodford County (8:00)
Yet another top team in the state in action as Mercy takes on Woodford. Delaney Enlow is a matchup nightmare for any opponent while Seniors Taziah Jenks and Hope Sivori are primed for big final seasons for the Jaguars. Jenks is signed to West Virginia while Sivori is one of the best available players in the state.
