#1 Hannah Stuelke – 6’1 PF – Cedar Rapids Washington – All Iowa Attack
Stuelke remains as the top player in the 2022 class and I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon. She is committed to Iowa and has proven time and time again that she is one of the most dominant players in the class, regardless of class. Stuelke was the top player in the last rankings update and she holds that same spot once again.
#2 Brooklyn Meyer – 6’2 PF – West Lyon – South Dakota Attack
Meyer was sixth in the last update and she moves all the way up to second in this update. She has gotten a lot stronger and more physical in the paint over the last few months. She plays hard all game long and is that dominant post player that coaches love. Meyer isn’t going to relinquish a spot in the top five anytime soon.
#3 Jada Gyamfi – 6’1 PF – Urbandale – All Iowa Attack
Gyamfi is a really solid hybrid forward who can play both forward spots really well. She has started to shoot the ball from the outside at a high level and has proven that she can defend on the wing. At the next level, I view her more as a stretch-four but she has the ability to play both on the floor. She’s been having a great year so far.
#4 Ryley Goebel – 5’11 SF – Center Point-Urbana – Team Iowa
Goebel holds serve at fourth on the list as one of two only players in the top 64 who saw no movement to their ranking. Goebel had Smith jump in front of her but had someone else drop down behind her. She is a very lengthy wing who is continuing to impress defensively and is starting to elevate her offensive skillset.
#5 Ava Hawthorne – 5’10 PG – Gilbert – All Iowa Attack
Hawthorne moves down a spot to fifth, but not because of something she did or didn’t do. College coaches put a premium on height and with three really good post players in the class, they have to be at the top of the list. Hawthorne has really improved over the past couple of months and she is firmly in the top tier of the 2022 players.
#6 Taylor Veach – 5’10 SF – Central DeWitt – Lady Martin Brothers
Like Hawthorne, Veach gets bumped down a spot just because Meyer moved up. She is a very solid all-around player and can play four spots on the floor with her strength and athleticism. I really like the ability that she has to score at all three levels and should start to see some college interest take off over the next year.
#7 Brooklynn Smith – 6’2 C – Waterloo West – Team Iowa
Smith moves up three spots within the 2022 rankings as she’s added more skill over the past couple months and she has also been able to stretch it away from the basket more. Smith is still a little raw but college coaches are already taking notice of her game because of her size. Smith’s development will be key over the next year.
#8 Reagan Barkema – 6′ SF – Roland-Story – All Iowa Attack
Barkema has really improved her outside shot over the past year or so and it has opened up her game immensely. She has started to drive to the basket a lot better and her decision making has improved. Barkema has also improved her passing ability and plays the point-forward role well. Look for Barkema to be a constant face in the top ten in the class.
#9 Brynlee Arnold – 6’2 PF – Glenwood – Nebraska Attack
Arnold makes her debut in the top ten at number nine. In fact, it’s her first time in the 2022 rankings as I hadn’t seen her play until this summer. She’s a solid post player who shows flashes of tough post play and solid perimeter skill. She has a lot of skill with the ball in her hands and as she develops her post play a little more she could find herself moving up.
#10 Allie Meadows – 5’8 PG – Central DeWitt – Lady Martin Brothers
Meadows ended up dropping two spots in the top ten but she has improved a lot over the past six months. Her outside shot is falling with more consistency and she has started to get into the lane and score the ball more. Her court vision has improved and she is playing at a very high level right now. Meadows is a no-doubt top ten player in the state right now.
