I’ve had the privilege to see these 2023 girls and I’m shouting them out and telling all recruiters to put them on your radars. These are my top eight freshmen to watch:
(Nease) Sophie Rueppell: A flat out shooter, she knows her sweet spots on the floor and she knows how to get to them. She can play on and off the ball. She has an outstanding basketball IQ.
(Spruce Creek) Tyja Beans: Nice post player, finishes well around the basket. You have to account for her when she’s on the floor, a lot of upside to her game. Soft hands and passes out of the post well.
(Sandalwood) Jada Jones: She is a force inside. Can play facing or back to basket. She runs the floor like a deer and finishes well amongst crowds. All major D1 programs will be calling on her services.
(Bolles) Taliah Scott: Arguably one of the best players in Duval County already, When you see her you’re going to love her. When girls’ basketball is mentioned in Duval County if Taliah Scott’s name is not attached to it, it has no meaning. She can PLAY!
(Jackson) Xaniyah Jackson: Great feel for the game. She has a soft touch and positions herself well. Rebounds the ball and also defends the paint. Good size and runs the floor well.
(Jackson) Kamryn Newsome: Nice size she actually can play multiple positions but she’s listed as a SG. Stays active on both ends of the floor. Can also step out and shoot the deep ball.
(Ribault) Asiana Britt: Great defender and has a non-stop motor, plays at a high level on both ends of the floor. Very aggressive guard that imposes her will on smaller guards and finishes amongst crowds. Good rebounder and will step out and shoot also.
(Lee) Yakiya Milton: Nice height and very smooth around the basket. Finishes with both hands effectively. Although she has a thin frame she rebounds and defends the paint. Nice shot blocker and has great footwork. She has a high ceiling and I can’t wait to see her get to her full potential.
