Millennium lost their first game of the season in a California tournament. In AZ, they are still unbeaten and I believe that they will remain undefeated throughout the season. Millennium makes a strong case for the All-State Power Rankings.
#2 Casteel 4-1
Casteel dropped a game that I thought they should’ve won but that’s basketball. Casteel is still 4-1 and I believe they are still the second best team in the conference. I am looking forward to seeing what this squad can do going forward and how they respond from a loss.
#3 Cactus Shadows 9-1
Cactus Shadows is right on Casteel’s heels and I would love to see these teams square off. Cactus Shadows is led by their senior point guard, Brooke Rodgers. Rodgers is having a terrific season and looks fairly dominant, especially getting to the basket.
#4 Sunnyslope 6-2
Sunnyslope has looked very solid this far into the season. Much like Cactus Shadows, Slope is led by their own senior point guard, Leslie Aguirre. Aguirre has been playing very well and is gathering a lot of attention from colleges. We’ll see how far Leslie can take Sunnyslope as I believe she is their star.
#5 Buckeye 3-1
Buckeye has had a solid season so far and their only loss has come from Saguaro, another very good team. Buckeye will face a very big test in their next game against Seton Catholic. Winning that game would greatly shake up both the 5A and 4A Power Rankings.
