Week 5 (week ending Dec. 22)
Division 1
1. Wayne (9-0) three games last week that saw Wayne cruise to easy victories now set them up for a big weekend ahead. The Warriors play in the Lakota West holiday event, with Fairfield on the schedule for Saturday then a huge showdown Sunday, pitting Wayne vs Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame at 5:40 on Sunday afternoon. 2021 Bree Hall and 2020 Nyla Hampton Nyla Hampton 5'7" | CG Wayne High School | 2020 State OH each had a big week, while 2020 Jaida Wolfork and 2021 Lovie Malone both shined.
2. Fairmont (7-1) a huge 64-36 win against traditional power Mason last Thursday gives them seven wins this season. 2020 Madeline Westbeld Madeline Westbeld 6'3" | SF Fairmont High School | 2020 State OH scored 19, 2020 Madison Bartley Madison Bartley 6'3" | C Fairmont High School | 2020 State OH added 17 and rising sophomore Mallory Hullinger had a solid game with 11 points. Fairmont returns to action on January 4, and will have this week off.
3. Springboro (7-0) defeated Tecumseh and Springfield last week, not heads over to Indianapolis for a pair of tough games this weekend. They play North Central on Friday, then will battle Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday afternoon, led by the nations top pure shooter Sydney Parrish, headed to Oregon. 2021 Jordan Hobbs Jordan Hobbs 5'9" | CG Springboro | 2021 State OH scored 25 against Tecumseh, 2021 Peyton Nation added 18.
4. Centerville (5-3) defeated Beavercreek 47-32 last week as 2023 Kendal George Kendal George 5'9" | CG Centerville | 2023 State OH scored 12 points to lead a balanced attack. The Elks then defeated Miamisburg 64-38 as 2022 Cotie McMahon Cotie McMahon 5'11" | SG Centerville | 2022 #28 Nation OH put up 28 points in the win. 2021 Amy Velasco Amy Velasco 5'8" | CG Centerville | 2021 State OH added 14 and George continued her solid scoring with 11.
5. Lebanon (6-1) lost to Mount Notre Dame on Saturday 68-32, now will play West Clermont on Saturday. 2021 Lindsey Sauerland led Lebanon with 12 points.
On the Bubble: Sidney, Bellbrook
Division 2
1. Carroll (7-1) A good win against McNicholas on Saturday 53-35 as unsigned 2020 Julia Keller Julia Keller 6'0" | PF Dayton Carroll High School | 2020 OH was unstoppable with 25 points on 11-14 shooting. 2021 Megan Leraas added 10 points as the Patriots jumped out early and never looked back. Carroll now travels to Tippecanoe on Saturday at 3:00.
2. Valley View (7-2) back up to the #2 spot after a 61-37 win against Franklin last week, and a loss from previous #2 Jonathan Alder. Against Franklin, it was a balanced attack as Aubrey Stupp Aubrey Stupp 6'0" | CG Valley View High School | 2020 OH scored 15, while five more each scored eight or more points. The Spartans are off this week before hosting Carroll on Monday night in a major challenge.
3. Jonathan Alder (7-1) split a pair of games last week, defeating London 55-33 before losing to Bishop Hartley on Saturday. Getting solid play from senior Sydney Bourquin. The Pioneers have another tough challenge on Saturday hosting Dublin Coffman.
4. Eaton (7-1) lost by 1 point against Bellbrook before bouncing back with a 64-52 win over Franklin on Saturday. 2020 Bailey Shepherd continues to shine with 20 points against Franklin and 10 from Allison Mowen. The Eagles return to action on Saturday against Alter on the road.
5. Tippecanoe (6-3) have won four straight and jumps back into the top 5. Defeated Greenville 49-27 last Monday and Fairborn 60-40 on Saturday. 2021 Katie Hemmelgarn, a 6-foot-3 post is improving every night. The Red Devils host #1 Carroll on Saturday.
On the Bubble: CJ, Dunbar
Division 3
1. West Liberty Salem (6-1) did not play last week and returns to action on Saturday against Southeastern. Moves into the #1 spot with the Arcanum loss on Saturday.
2. Versailles (5-3) off last week as they moved up to #2 overall in the rankings. The Tigers will travel to Anna on Thursday evening, and then head to Russia on Saturday afternoon.
3. Arcanum (7-2) suffered a tough loss at Fort Recovery on Saturday, and now have some time to thinl about it, as they are off until Jan. 2. Taylor Gray Taylor Gray 6'0" | C Arcanum | 2022 OH led the way in their loss.
4. Greenon (6-1) had a pair of wins to move into the top 5 this week. Defeated Fairbanks on Thursday 59-47, then had an impressive 63-47 win against Greeneview to give Greenon their third straight win. 2020 Sierra Potter had a pair of big games last week while 2020 Delaney Benedict added 13 on Saturday. Off this week, Greenon returns to action Jan. 2 at Troy Christian.
5(tie). Waynesville (5-4) defeated last weeks #5 Carlisle 49-35 to knock the Indians from the unbeaten. Isabella Cassoni scored 14 in the big win, while Leah Butterbaugh added 10. The Spartans will host Anna on Saturday morning as the Rockets fall out of the top five with two losses last week, but look to climb back.
5(tie). Carlisle (8-1) lost their first game of the season, but remains fifth now tied with Waynesville. The Indians look to get back on the winning track at Dayton Christian on Saturday.
On the Bubble: Anna, Madison
Division 4
1(tie). Tri Village (8-0) battled St. Henry on Saturday and survived for a six-point win led by unsigned 2020 Maddie Downing Maddie Downing 6'1" | C Tri-Village High School | 2020 OH . Makes the long drive to Canton this weekend, and will play in the OGBR event on Sunday playing Trinity High School.
1(tie). Fort Loramie (9-0) made another statement last week with a 47-point win against a good New Bremen tem, then on Saturday cruised past Anna 56-24. They enjoyed an 18-0 fourth quarter to put it away. So incredibly deep. 2020 Marissa Meiring Marissa Meiring 5'10" | PF Fort Loramie High School | 2020 OH (pictured above) scored 25 points over two games last week. They are off this week.
3. Mechanicsburg (9-0) had two more wins last week, 66-26 over Triad and 63-31 over Madison Plains. The Indians host Cedarville on Saturday.
4. Minster (6-1) huge week for the Wildcats, as they host 8-1 Catholic Central on Monday, then play in the Lima Bath Holiday Tournament this weekend, with Delta on Friday and either Lima Bath or Bowsher on Saturday. 2021 Ivy Wolf Ivy Wolf 5'8" | PG Minster | 2021 State OH and Janae Hoying along with 2020 Averi Wolf have been consistent for the Cats.
5(tie). Franklin Monroe (8-1) 2020 Corina Conley Corina Conley 6'0" | C Franklin Monroe High School | 2020 State OH is making her statement this season, as she scored a school-record 39 points in a win against Twin Valley South. The Jets also defeated Covington last week. Big league game Saturday morning at Miami East.
5(tie). Springfield Catholic Central (8-1) 8 straight wins for the Irish thanks to 2021 Abigail Peterson and 2022 Mallory Mullen Mallory Mullen 6'0" | PF Springfield Catholic Central | 2022 OH as they have one big test this week, Monday night at Minster.
