December Sixth Man Standouts
As 2019 comes to a close I would like to highlight players who have provided their teams with energy from the bench. Players who make the depth of their teams, and might not start the game but finish the game. The sixth man of any team is a crucial part of their success, and often telling of who will be the stars of the team in seasons to come. Here’s a couple of sixth men who have stood out thus far in the season.
Katie Koshuta (Madison, 2022)
Koshuta has had a solid start for the Warhawks, scoring in double figures her first two games. She has stood out coming off the bench on a team with a lot of depth, displaying the ability to move without the ball well and create opportunities for her teammates, many of whom can be lethal from deep. Be on the lookout for her to continue to improve and be a part of Madison’s success this winter.
Kendall Jones (McLean, 2021)
Jones has been McLean’s go-to player off the bench and has impressed in the post. In the highlanders’ second game she posted 18 points. Against Marshall, she posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. She has displayed a willingness to get on the floor and do all the little things for her team to get victories.
Nicole Forbes (South Lakes, 2021)
On a team stacked with talent at the guard position, Forbes has performed solidly for the Seahawks, and has exuded the energy of a player eager to improve and do whatever it takes to win. She has been South Lakes’ most impressive player off the bench so far, and will soon be one of their most impressive players overall. She could very well be the X-factor in any success for the Seahawks this winter.
Summer Thomas (Langley, 2021)
Thomas has been a dependable guard for the Saxons, doing whatever is needed from game to game to help her team. She has scored in double figures twice already coming off the bench for a team that sometimes struggles offensively, and always brings good energy into the game. Look for her to keep improving and become one of Langley’s most versatile players.
