It’s important that some of these fast starts don’t get lost in all the excitement. We’ll take a look at 3 players who have quietly and confidently dominated to start the year.
Karrington Gordon (2021, F, Lincoln Park)
Gordon and her big time performances might have flown under the radar a bit. Not anymore. She has been a force to be reckoned with on the glass and has proven herself as a scorer. In her Lincoln Park’s first game against Woodhaven, she had 18 points and 8 rebounds. Last night her team squared off against Annapolis. Gordon went off with a double-double dropping 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Jordan Phillips (2020, SG, Midland)
Her start to the season hasn’t gone under the radar, but she has certainly been underrated for a while. Phillips is sending a message this season. She’s developed into a versatile scorer, while still maintaining her reputation as a lights out shooter. Phillips has led Midland to an impressive 3-0 start. She had 13 points in a win over Reese, 29 points in a win over Blissfield, and 18 points while defeating Mount Pleasant.
Sydney Vis (2022, F, South Christian)
As a freshman, it was obvious that Sydney Vis was a talented prospect. So far this season, she’s hammering home that message. Vis is a good old fashioned stat sheet stuffer. If there’s a way to contribute and help her team win, she’ll find it. Vis is a threat to score, a quality rebounder, and a plus defender. She’s started the season with 2 double-doubles combining for 32 points and 23 rebounds in the first 2 games.
