Here is what we learned at the Gold Crown Holiday TipOff on Day 2, we watched many games in the last two days and we saw some kids that are prospects that we believe will play college basketball at some level of the game in the near future, some are Seniors and some are Juniors, Sophomores and Freshman. We hope you like the material and also take the time to scour our site and find some good reads.
2021 – 5’9, SF, Hoover HS, San Diego (CA), Namaya Sowunni – Nice size for a forward, shoots the ball well out to the three-point line and is not afraid to mix it up in the paint. She is a team leader and tough on the defensive end of the floor. She is aggressive and I know she will help a team win on the next level.
2020, 5’1, PG, Southwest El Centro (CA), Mia Samaniego – Small guard with handles, shoots the ball well and is a good defender on and off the ball. Comes into the game with a great attitude and is ready to perform for her team, she was really aggressive going to the basket and could finish thru contact.
2021, 5’3, SG, Southwest El Centro (CA), Kaeden Toves – Another small guard with some good ball handling skills, she was crafty off the dribble and kept her defensive opponent on their heels. She shot the ball well from the midrange and I believe she knocked down a three-pointer to boot. Tough little guard here, we were impressed.
2020, 5’10, SF, Hilltop (CA), Alyssa Mays – Nice long and lanky wing guard with a lot of heart on the floor, tough and gritty and ran her team to perfection when on the floor. Attacked the basket off the catch in the middle and as well as from the wing, shot the midrange and was a good defender.
2020, 5’2, PG, Hilltop (CA), Sofia Gomez – Another little fiesty guard on the floor, she went hard on each and every play which allowed her team to stay close to their opponent in their game. She shot the ball well and gave some good passes for buckets, she impressed us with the IQ she had on the floor.
2023, 5’3, PG, Hilltop (CA), Lizeth Renteria – She is a dynamic, she is strong, she is quick and has a nice solid body type for her size. Her drives to the basket were really strong and she could finish thru contact, she kept attacking the rim no matter what, she was trying to get her team to win. She played good defense and was one of the toughest kids on the floor. We call her an all-around player, she does everything to allow her team to try and win. WE LOVE players like this….
2022, 5’3, SG, Hilltop (CA), Aysia Santos – Aysia is a deep three-point shooter, she knocks them down from about 23 feet out, I watched her do this about 2 to 3 times. She steps right into the shot and bang, she hits the three-pointer in your face if you decide to back up off of her. She is also a tough and scrappy guard that is always on the attack, her defensive game is good and she is a good teammate. Love her grittiness.
2022, 5’7, SF, La Costa Canyon, Lauren Hendricks – She was an aggressive forward type player, she was wearing a face mask, so I know she likes to mix it up in the paint and makes things tough for her opponent to score. She set screens, she got rebounds and she was able to make the midrange shot with some success.
2020, 5’7, G/W, Maricopa HS (AZ), Tayler Coleman – Tayler was fun to watch play, she is athletic, she is strong, she is fast and knows how to play the game of basketball. She shoots the ball well from all levels and had some unorthodox moves to the basket, but she mad the shots. She even pulled up on the break and knocked down a three-pointer in transition, it was a nice pull up.
2021, 5’5, PG, Maricopa HS (AZ), Shakira Gillespie – Shakira is an athletic guard with all the fundamentals needed to be a great player for her team. She is fast, strong, smart and is a blur on the floor when teams are trying to press her, that makes for a great player to me, she is one of the team leaders out there. She can handle the ball, she can defend, she can get to the rim and finish thru contact and is going to get better each and every game.
