PGH Iowa Week 1 Player of the Week Voting
We are done with the first week of the season and that means Player of the Week voting! Each week we will be taking five of the top performers from the last week and letting you vote for the Player of the Week! The poll will be posted each Sunday at 1PM and voting ends on Tuesday at 12PM. Let’s meet the five candidates below.
Grace Boffeli | 2020 | North Scott | 2 games, 71 points, 27/39 FG, 23 rebounds
Boffeli opened the season with a 37 point, 10 rebound performance in a 69-61 win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy. She was efficient from the floor as she hit 15-of-23 from the field. Boffeli followed that up by going 12-of-16 from the floor and 10-for-11 at the line in a 59-55 win over Xavier at “Rivalry Saturday”. The 34 point performance set the record for most points scored in a game at the event. Boffeli also had 11 rebounds in the game.
Karsyn Stratton | 2020 | Clear Creek-Amana | 1 game, 31 points, 13/23 FG, 11 rebounds
Stratton had a tremendous start to the season as she scored 31 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in an opening win over Solon 58-43. Six of her rebounds were offensive boards. Stratton played well on both ends as she also had three assists and three turnovers.
Helaina Hillyard | 2020 | Mediapolis | 1 game, 17 points, 7/15 FG, 13 steals, 7 rebounds, 6 assists
Hillyard had one of the most dominating games of the young year as she did everything in their win over Winfield-Mt. Union and more. Hillyard filled the stat sheet in a 64-32 win. It was a great performance that showed her versatility on both ends of the floor.
Jordan England | 2021 | Lenox | 1 game, 12 points, 3/12 FG, 26 rebounds
England took over the boards in the Lenox win over Clarinda. Lenox won the game 36-30 and England almost had as many rebounds as Clarinda had points in the game. The 26 rebounds was the highest total in an Iowa High School game since Amanda Chizek had 27 rebounds on 12/19/2017.
Anna Deets | 2020 | Mason City | 3 games, 81 points, 25/48 FG, 21 rebounds
Deets had a tremendous start to the season for Mason City. Deets had 39 points and 10 rebounds in their 83-61 win over Ankeny. Deets hit six 3-pointers in that game to lead them to a win. In their second game of the year, Mason City beat Des Moines North 69-31. Deets had 27 points in that game and hit four 3-pointers. In a 57-49 win over Waverly-Shell Rock Deets scored 15 points and had eight rebounds. It was a very good all-around week for her as Mason City pulled in a couple of big wins.
