PGH Iowa Week 2 Player of the Week Voting
We are done with the first week of the season and that means Player of the Week voting! Each week we will be taking five of the top performers from the last week and letting you vote for the Player of the Week! The poll will be posted each Sunday and voting ends on Tuesday at midnight. Let’s meet the five candidates below.
Sharon Goodman | 2020 | Crestwood | 3 games, 87 points, 34/48 FG, 35 rebounds, 20 blocks
Goodman was instrumental in leading Crestwood to three big wins this week. In the first game of the week, she had 29 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocks in a 48-37 win over Denver. She followed that up with 34 points, 15 rebounds, and eight blocks in a 67-44 win over North Fayette Valley. To round out the week, she had 24 points and six rebounds in a win over a very good Dike-New Hartford team. Goodman averaged 29 points a game this week and shot the ball at an insane rate in three wins.
Katie Keitges | 2020 | Knoxville | 2 games, 64 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists
Keitges had 29 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in a 63-56 win over Van Meter. She then followed that up with a 35 point performance against Oskaloosa in a 66-24 win on Saturday evening. In both games, she led her team to the victory scoring the basketball.
Alexa Ahrenholtz | 2021 | IKM-Manning | 3 games, 85 points, 27/41 FG, 17 rebounds, 19 steals
Ahrenholtz had three big games in her team’s first three games of the year. She started the week off by dropping 28 points and grabbing six rebounds in the opening 70-66 come-from-behind win against Underwood. She then had 21 points and six steals in a huge win over Riverside, 74-14. Ahrenholtz followed that up the next night in a 21-point win over Panorama. In that game, she had 36 points and was 11-of-15 from the floor. She hit five 3-pointers in the game and added nine rebounds and eight steals to help her team to the win.
Mallory McDermott | 2020 | Prairie | 1 game, 38 points, 14/19 FG, 8/11 3FG
In Prairie’s lone game of the week, McDermott had the hot hand as she scored 38 points. She nailed eight 3-pointers in the game and helped Prarie to a big win over Iowa City West 78-52.
Sasha Koenig | 2021 | West Branch | 3 games, 71 points, 18 assists, 19 steals
In the first game of the week for West Branch, Koenig had 27 points, 10 steals and 8 assists in a 70-36 win. She followed that up with 26 points and four assists the next night in a 59-40 win over Northeast. She ended her week in stellar fashion putting up 18 points, dishing out six assists, and nabbing five steals. It was a stat-stuffing weekend for Koenig.
