POLL: PGH Player of the Week (Week 3)
Most teams in the state played multiple games this past week and we had several quality nominations for Player of the Week. Vote now for your favorite nominee:
Morgan DeFoor, Scott County – The Senior guard led the Lady Cards to 3 wins this past week. Against Holmes, she had 17 points and 6 assists. Against Henry Clay, she had 30 points and 10 assists then she finished the week with 30 points and 7 assists against Tates Creek.
Malea Williams, Scott County – DeFoor’s teammate also had a big week. Malea had 19 points and 9 rebounds against Holmes, 24 points and 10 rebounds against Henry Clay then 16 points and 15 rebounds in the win against Tates Creek.
Carly Smith, Owsley County – The point guard had a big week for the Owls. Against Cordia, she had 13 points and 5 rebounds in a big win. Against Estill County, Carly had 14 points and 6 rebounds in a win. Against Tolsia (WV) she had 16 points and 5 rebounds in another win. Against Williamsburg, Smith had 19 points and 3 rebounds in a win and finally, Carly scored 13 points in a loss to Russell County in a loss in the Championship game of the Smoky Mountain Classic.
Ashanti Gore, Glasgow – Gore had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Warren Central.
Shelby Stewart, Corbin – Shelby scored 29 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the win over McCreary Central. In a win over Middlesboro, she had 30 points and 10 rebounds. In a loss to Spencer County, Stewart had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Corbin also won over Knox Central but stats weren’t put in. She ended the week with averages of 22.3 points and 9 rebounds.
Ellie Heid, Portland Christian – Ellie was held to 9 points in a loss to Central but bounced back on the weekend to score 16 points in a win over Highlands Latin and then had 29 points in a win over Shawnee as Portland Christian won their Christmas tournament for the first time in 22 years.
Briante Gowdy, Campbellsville – She had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals against North Bullitt then 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists against Adair County then finished the week with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals against Monroe County as the Eagles went 2-1 for the week.
