A hard working player who loves doing the dirty work, Grassity is a strong defender, rebounder and likes getting on the floor for a loose ball or making a hustle play. She is a strong rebounder and shooter.
A year ago, Highland Park competed without three key players due to injury and Grassity had to take on a bigger role with the team and averaged 18 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 3.4 steals and shot 53 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
“It was a year I had to really learn to be a play maker and being able to score at any given time,” Grassity said. “And finding the easy shots, not only for me but my teammates as well who weren’t as experienced.
“I’m super excited for this upcoming season especially with it being my last time playing high school ball and my team has to go out with a bang! We have really high expectations not only for each player, but our team as a whole. Im particularly ready to play Schlage and Washburn rural.”
Grassity says running with Team KC Hoops for her dad and says the experience helped prepare her for the upcoming season.
“I played with a lot of younger girls helping develop them, and learning how to be a better leader,” she says. “We didn’t win much, but we always pushed ourselves to compete at the highest level and never gave up.”
Grassity says her dad has been the biggest influence throughout her basketball career to date.
“He’s been my coach since I was in elementary school, and has always pushed me to be the best leader and player I can be and nothing less of that,” she said. “We’ve spent countless hours in the gym day and night together, I wouldn’t be the player or person I am today without him. My mom’s pretty amazing too.”
Grassity has heard from NAIA programs like Bethel and Tabor but does not yet hold an offer.
