But standing at around 5-foot-2, Marquez is just a bit small. She’s not the first player, however, who has had plenty of tools and not the size, so Lopez still fully expects to see Marquez playing collegiate basketball somewhere next year.
“Jocelyn doesn’t back down from anybody,” Lopez said. “She’s been playing varsity for years now and she sees the floor and anticipates at an incredible level, and she’s an incredible team player. She gives it all up for her teammates and that’s sometimes a hard thing to find. But Jocelyn is always diving on the floor and getting after it, whatever it takes to make the team better.”
Marquez might be looking to get out of Pueblo and possibly even out of state, though she isn’t opposed to playing locally either. The senior guard has drawn plenty of interest from several junior colleges and Division-III programs but currently has no offers at this time.
A four-year varsity player, Marquez averaged over 17 points per game as a junior in 2018-19 and also had over three steals a night. She was voted to the Colorado High School Activities Association honorable mention list for Class 4A last winter.
