Season Preview: Strawberry Crest High School Lady Chargers
Strawberry Crest High School is located in Dover, Florida. The Lady Chargers are coached by Coach Latosha Lewis. This is Coach Lewis’ eleventh (11th) season at Strawberry Crest High School. Coach Lewis has an impressive coaching resume, coaching Division 1 College basketball for ten (10) years (5 years at Stephen F. Austin/5 years at The University of Central Florida), four (4) years at the Semi-Pro level, five (5) years AAU, and now eleven (11) years at the high school level. With the background of Coach Lewis it’s no surprise that she has created a winning culture at Strawberry Crest. In her tenure, she has assisted eight (8) student-athletes play basketball at the collegiate level. With the talent on her roster this season, I see this number definitely increasing.
The Lady Chargers finished the 2018-2019 season at 22-7. Coach Lewis has the expectations this season to win another district title. Her goal for her team is to compete at the highest level every time they step on the court and to be better then they were the year prior. Coach Lewis is excited about this year due to the talent on her roster. She has many talented players with on the court experience. The Lady Chargers have three (3) seniors (Megan Watson, Aset Franklin, and Taylor Butler) on the floor that are leading the way for the underclassmen. Taylor Butler is a veteran point guard that makes everyone around her better. Butler is a natural leader with excellent court vision. Up and coming Freshman Ki’Ajane Gordon is going to be a force to be reckon with. Gordon had a breakout game vs Seffner Christian where she had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist. “Gordon has the potential to be one of the top players in Florida,” stated Coach Lewis.
Coach Lewis and the Lady Chargers have started the 2019-2020 season at 3-1. With the combination of elite coaching and a talented roster the sky is the limit this season for Strawberry Crest High School.
