There was alot of cross-class match-ups, especially in the Omaha-Lincoln area. The concept of the jamboree exhibition started about ten years ago, and it is a really nice way for teams to get in a uniform and play against someone else before the games start for real this coming weekend.
GAME OF THE WEEK –> LINCOLN-OMAHA CORRIDOR: There are quite a few nice match-ups in the opening weekend, but the 4-Team Classic featuring Fremont, Lincoln Northeast, Omaha Westside and Bellevue West ought to be very good. Three of these teams project out to have a great chance at the state tournament, and Bellevue West is always a competitive program. These teams will see what they are made of right on the opening weekend.
GAME OF THE WEEK –> STATE-WIDE: We are going to go to Class B for this match-up. On Saturday, defending state champion Grand Island Northwest goes on the road to take on Norris, who will be a difficult match-up for the Vikings. All-state guard Whitney Brown will try to lead the Vikings past the Titans, who feature returning all-state post player Breanna Stai, along with a strong returning group of players that are hungry to get back to Lincoln. The champions have a tough weekend, with a semi-final rematch against Waverly, who had a sixteen point lead in that game before Northwest came storming back.
Honorable Mention: Loomis at Overton (Friday, 12/6), Fillmore Central at Milford (Friday, 12/6), Hastings St. Cecilia’s at Bishop Neumann (Saturday, 12/7), Bennington at Wahoo (Saturday, 12/7)
