Continue ReadingWith the 2019 – 2020 season well underway, here is a list of some of the players that are performing well so far to begin the season. With some early-season tournaments and high profile conference and non-conference match-ups, we look at some familiar players that have been solid for their teams.
Priscilla Williams – C/O 202 6’2 Guard – Branson – Committed to Syracuse University

Priscilla has a smooth and quick release on her jump shot, can get to the basket with ease, and makes plays for her teammates with all the attention she gets from her opponents. She is long and athletic and uses these to cause problems on defense. Priscilla can guard 1 through 5 and rebounds it very well. She just makes everyone around her better with her leadership and team-first play.
Gabby Burns – C/O 2020 5’10 Guard – Liberty North – Committed to Quincy University
Photo KCSports.netThe senior guard is off to a solid start this season. Gabby is an elite level defender both on the ball and off. She excels in catch and shoot situations but can get anywhere on the floor off the bounce. She can finish with either hand at the basket. Gabby has excellent footwork in the post and makes efficient plays.
Jada Williams – C/O 2023 5’6 Guard – Blue Springs
Photo courtesy The ExaminerThe freshman guard does it all on the court. As a young player, Jada plays the game years ahead of her age. Electric off the bounce with creative finishes at the rim. Her ability to see the floor and find her teammates for easy baskets because of the attention she draws. A knockdown shooter both on catch and shoot as well as off the dribble. Her offensive skill set allows her to play tough defense. Jada is the ultimate competitor, as she plays with an intensity that fuels her game.
Grace Slaughter – C/O 2023 6’1 G/F – Grain Valley – 23.60 PPG 3.8 REB 66% FG 30% 3FG 2.8 STL
Photo courtesy The ExaminerGrace has a nice pace to her game as a freshman. She can get by bigger post players and plays well in the post against smaller guards. A knockdown shooter, Grace has a solid basketball IQ to play in space to get her shot off. Her handles and solid and she is an elite rebounder. Grace runs the floor well and finishes with either hand at the basket.
Paige Allen – C/O 2020 5’9 G/F – Oak Park – Committed to Texas A&M Corpus Christi – 26.00 ppg 51% FG 75% FT 3.0 AST 8.6 REB 4.4 STL

Paige plays strong out of the post and can start a fast break on her own. Her on-ball defense is elite and she can handle the ball going left or right with ease. Paige is a nice addition to the Lady Islander squad next year.
Kyndal Lewis – C/O 2021 5’8 Forward – Belton – Offer from Eastern Michigan 16.6 PPG 11.8 REB 53% FG
Photo credit Kansas City StarKyndal has a very polished game in the post. Her soft hands and guard-like quickness allows here to get easy steals and blocks. She is a mismatch going against other post players that are not as athletic as she is. Solid handles on the perimeter. Runs the floor well and has an improved jump shot. Kyndal is simply a double-double machine.
Tasia Johnson – C/O 2022 5’5 Guard – Lee’s Summit West

Her quickness is on full display with her elite on-ball defense and great court awareness of the ball playing in passing lanes. Tasia can get anywhere on the floor with her excellent handles. She finishes strong and through contact at the basket. Tasia can create space off the bounce for her jump shot and has a nice mid-range game. She is a knock-down shooter from three.
Tiyani Rollins – C/O 2022 Guard – Blue Springs South

Tiyani plays solid on-ball defense and uses her speed and quickness to play in passing lanes. Great off the dribble with both hands and is an elite shooter. Tiyani does let the defense speed her up; great pace to her game.
Jacque David – C/O 2021 5’11 Post – William Chrisman
Photo courtesy HUDLThe standout junior post can get to any spot in the painted area. Jacque has outstanding footwork and incredibly soft hands. She finishes everything at the basket and is an elite level rebounder and defender out of the post. Jacque gives her team an intimidating presence in the paint and is a double-double machine.
Ja’mya Powell-Smith – C/O 2021 5’4 Guard – North Kansas City
Photo courtesy Springfield News-LeaderJa’mya has an excellent jump shot off the pull in transition. She shoots it well from beyond the high school three-point line. She is an excellent lead guard with great court awareness. Ja’mya moves and plays well without the ball. She can guard post players due to her strength and quickness. Her pace of play is good and she can create for herself and teammates off the dribble.
Kiyley Flowers – C/O 2021 5’8 Guard – Fort Osage – 16.7 PPG 6 REB 49% FG 4.4 AST 5.1 STL
An elite shooter off the catch with the ability to create off the dribble. Kiyley is an outstanding defender with a solid basketball IQ. She is one of the best athletes in the KC metro area. Kiyley plays at a quick pace and pushes the ball up the floor at every opportunity under control. her feel for the game is excellent. Kiyley uses her length to block shots in the paint and start the fast break as well.
Morgan Ferrara – C/O 2021 5’10 Guard – Staley – 14.1 PPG 4.4 REB 44% FG 37% 3FG 2 STL
Photo courtesy HUDLAn active athletic guard, Morgan impresses with her size and length at the guard spot. On defense, her hands are always in passing lanes and getting deflections. She gets out and runs the floor well. Morgan is yet another elite shooter in this group. She plays well without the ball and doesn’t force anything.
Jaidynn Mason – C/O 2022 5’5 Guard – Park Hill South – 17 PPG 4.5 REB 58% FG 3.5 AST 3.6 STL

She is an elite on-ball defender who guards the other team’s best player the entire game. She gets a ton of deflections because she anticipates passes so well. Jaidynn is an elite athlete with tight handles. She plays the game at a different pace than everyone while still being under control. Jaidynns’ jump shot is solid and she can run the show for her team.
Olivia Nelson – C/O 2020 5’7 Guard – Liberty – 19.6 PPG 2.8 REB 55% FG 53% 3FG 2.8 REB 3 AST 3 STL
Photo courtesy Courier-TribuneA solid floor general, Olivia is an extension of her coach on the floor. Gets her team in their sets, plays with a good pass, and she sees the floor well. Another one of the areas elite shooters from three. A quick and athletic guard, Olivia plays well out on the fast break. She finishes at the basket and her quick hands-on defense allows her to get her team on fast breaks for easy scores. The senior has a polished game all around.
Cierra Smith – C/O 2022 5’7 Guard – Grandview – 19.5 pts 35% FG 30% 3pt 74% ft 2 reb 3.3 stl – WBCA Player of the Week for Week 2 Region 5

She can get to any spot on the floor, left or right. Cierra is an excellent shooter from deep. Her defensive ability allows her to get easy baskets on fast breaks. Cierra rebounds it well for her position. She plays hard whenever she is on the floor.
Amaya Blake – C/O 2022 5’7 Guard – Platte County – 17.6 ppg 34% FG 38% 3pt 2.0 AST 7.6 REB 2.0 STL 1.0 Blk
Photo courtesy NLI scoutingAmaya is a solid guard that plays both ends of the floor. She can shot it from deep and go by her defender off the bounce. Amaya is a tough rebounder and plays an aggressive under control style of play. A creative finisher getting into the lane, Amaya does not force shots. Guards her position well and is a team player. Amaya has already been voted Player of the Game 4 times this season by Maxpreps.
Caroline Kelly – C/O 2020 5’10 Guard – Kearney – 20.2 PPG 4.3 REB 2.8 AST 2.7 STLS
Photo courtesy Courier-TribuneAnother elite level shooter from deep, Caroline excels in the open floor. Her basketball IQ is top-level and she plays within the teams’ system. Caroline is a solid passer and she is quick off the bounce. She has a good feel for the game and does over dribble. A good on-ball defender that seems to always be around the ball coming from the weak side to help her teammates.
Aliyah Green – C/O 2021 6’2 Post – Ray-Pec – 10.6 PPG 7.8 REB 47% FG 2 STL
Photo courtesy of HUDLOne of the best post players in the area, Aliyah has a nose for the ball. She has solid footwork in the post and a nice touch around the basket. Aliyah rebounds it at a high level and has deceptive quickness out on the floor getting steals. Her jump shot is showing improvement with a quicker release.
Lauren Gillig – C/O 2021 6’0 Guard – Blue Springs South – 14 PPG 6 REB 60% FG 42% 3FG
Photo courtesy TwitterAn elite shooter that is also a threat off the bounce, Lauren rarely misses an open jump shot. her length at the guard spots makes her a solid rebounder and her active hands lead to a lot of deflections. Not just a shooter, Lauren gets out and runs the floor well. As well as playing solid defense at her position. Good length to block shots and is an all-around great player.
Kennedy Townsend – C/O 2022 5’8 Guard – Park Hill
Kennedy is a solid all-around guard and also among the top three-point shooters in the area. Her competitive nature fuels her defense and her athletic ability helps her play well in the open floor. Kennedy can get to the basket. She plays well without the ball getting to open spots.
Stevi Yancy – C/O 2022 5’6 Guard – Raytown
Photo courtesy HUDLStevi is an elite-level defender, especially when guarding the ball. She stays low and has both quick hands and feet. A solid shooter that looks to get to the basket. Stevi can run the show and she sees the floor very well. She finds her teammates with great passes and she doe not turn it over often.
Dequaria Guillory – C/O 2020 5’6 Guard – Park Hill
Photo courtesy PHS twitterThe transfer guard has been a welcome addition to her team so far this year. Dequaria is great on the defensive end. She gets her hands on a lot of balls by playing the passing lanes. Dequaria is an elite level shooter. She can also get to the basket with her solid handles and plays very strong in the paint. Moves well off the ball and does not make many plays to hurt the team.
