Top Junior Performances:
Marie Kiefer (Bishop Brossart)
Standing at about 6 foot 3, Marie was excellent for Bishop Brossart in their victory over Henry Clay. She won Player of the Game with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 1 block. She is an offensive threat down-low because of her amazing length. She is also a defensive threat inside the paint because of her ability to contest shots and grab defensive boards. She took over in 3Q as she made her presence felt with 5 points & 6 rebounds. She has excellent post skills and her ability to finish under the basket is one of the best. Top 10 Player in the 2021 Class, according to PrepGirlsHoops (KY).
Dynastee White (Butler)
The Junior point guard was absolutely incredible in this game. She missed two go-ahead FTs towards the end-of-regulation but she kept her composure and had all of Butler’s points in OT. In fact, she scored the game winning And-1 and won the Player of the Game Award with 17 points and 7 rebounds. She has great size for her position and she is excellent at making decisions when taking care of the ball. She can finish at the rim and she isn’t afraid to shoot the deep ball either. Great game from Dynastee and the Butler Bearettes in the OT win over Conner, 43-40.
Kelsie Woodard (Menifee Co.)
Woodard knows how to draw contact as she went to the line 8 times and made 5 of them. She is a glass cleaner as she recorded 12 rebounds. Kelsie ended the game with a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds and the victory over Washington County. She likes to attack the paint and finish under the basket as all over points were in the paint. Junior Kelsie Woodard and Senior Kelsie Evans were a dynamic duo and will have to carry this team throughout the season. They combined for 42 points of their 67.
Sammi Sites (Johnson Central)
The Top-35 Junior in KY loves to attack inside the paint and draws a lot of contact. She made 14 of her 16 free throw attempts. She ended the game with 20 points and 8 rebounds. She is aggressive on both ends of the floor as she’s causing contact offensively and going up for rebounds on the defensive end. She is very shifty with the ball and she can easily maneuver through multiple defenders. 14 of her 20 points came at the free throw line and the remaining points were two 3-pointers. She has an excellent jump shot.
Grace Bezold (Holy Cross – Covington)
Bezold can really shoot the ball. She made three 3-pointers in their victory over Jenkins High School. She is long and can rebound really well. She ended the game with 19 points and 6 rebounds. She’s not just a shooter though, she loves to attack the rim and get her baskets that way too. Bezold went on to win Player of the Game as she led Holy Cross in the big win, 55-25.
Jerrica Thacker (Jenkins)
Jenkins really struggled the entire game against Holy Cross but Jerrica Thacker did not. She had 21 of Jenkins’ 25 points. She can really shoot the ball. I think she had to be the best shooter in this Classic as she made six 3s. She even hit a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the 1st Quarter. Even though they lost by 30, Thacker showed heart and she had the green light every single time she touched the ball. Great shooter.
