The Top Senior Performances:
Kelsie Evans (Menifee County)
In Game #3, Senior Kelsie Evans took over the show. Menifee County defeated Washington County, 67-54. Evans ended the game with a game-high, 25 points. She attacked the paint with force and she easily finished with either hand under the basket. By her aggressiveness driving into the paint that sent her to the free throw line 8 times. She made 6 of her 8 free throws. She had a great shot and she was definitely the true leader for this Menifee County team.
Mallory Holbrook (Campbell County)
In Game #2, Senior Mallory Holbrook was a physical force on the offensive end. Campbell County defeated Johnson Central, 72-55. Holbrook ended the game with 17 points and 4 rebounds. She was definitely the leader of this team as she had the ball in her hands the most for this Campbell County team. She was very physical on offense as she used her body to attack the inside. Her defense was also something to note as she made it very difficult for Johnson Central to score the ball down-low.
Maddy Riley (Washington County)
Although Washington County lost to Menifee County, Maddy Riley was very impressive. Riley ended the game with 20 points and 9 rebounds. She was the point guard and ran the show but she was also aggressive on the offensive glass. She was able to finish in between defenders and she also could hit the 3-ball. She tried to take control for Washington County in the 2nd Half as she scored 8 of her 20 in the 4th Quarter. I could sense she was an upperclassmen by the way she was handling the game and leading the team in points and rebounds.
Maddie Cox (Henry Clay)
Henry Clay was struggling as they played Bishop Brossart in the first game of the day. Senior Maddie Cox tried to lead Henry Clay back into the game but it just wasn’t enough. Bishop Brossart ended up winning, 46-33. Cox scored all of her 12 points in the 2nd half. In fact, all of her 12 points were made up of 4 threes. She also came off the bench for Henry Clay. I wonder if Coach Sanford will decide to give her the starting spot after that shooting performance. She could really shoot the ball and tried everything in her power to pull her team back within striking distance.
Tyra Murphy (Conner)
In the last game of the day, Conner lost in Overtime to Butler in a battle, 43-40. Tyra Murphy’s performance for Conner is what kept this game close as it was the best game of the Top Prospect Classic. She ended the game with 11 points and 4 rebounds. She is a big body that uses her force inside on the defenders. She backs them down and she can finish under the basket really well. She can also shoot the ball as she had a sweet mid-range jumper. But most of her work came down-low in the post with her physical presence.
