Orangewood Academy vs. Troy
Final Score: Troy 54, Orangewood Academy 41
This game started as we thought it might, Orangewood Academy got out to a lead and were burning on all cylinders in this game with hot shooting from 2020, 5’4, SG, Sydney Gandy (Idaho Commit) with 18 points in the game. The first quarter belonged to Orangewood Academy with a score of 12-10 going into the second quarter, Troy then energized their offense with 2021, 6’6, C, Endigo Parker and 2022, 5’10, SG, Hanna Stines tying the score at the halftime mark of 24-24. After the break the game was close and tight until Sydney Gandy went down with a leg injury and that is what led to the route in the third quarter and leaked into the fourth as well. Sydney Gandy tried to come back in the fourth to play, but decided to call it quits for this game and make sure her leg is doing fine to play the next day. We saw some girls in this game that we will evaluate below, please take the time to read those evaluations and we hope you enjoy the article.
Troy High – Top Performers:
2021, 6’6, C, Endigo Parker – Endigo is a long and lanky center with a numerous amount of skills, she showed us her soft hands and shooting ability from the midrange area of the floor, she used the backboard and also showed us her ability to block shots at a consistent basis. She has right and left finishing abilities and she is not afraid to mix it up with bigger and heavier post players. She showed D1 schools last night, she is ready to compete on the floor and can help your team win, by running the floor, catching and finishing at the rim. She ended the game last night with 19 points in the win.
2022, 5’10, SG, Hanna Stines – Hanna is the your prototypical shooting guard that has a knack for hitting the long three pointer on the floor. She hit two last second shot clock long threes last night to help her team win against Orangewood Academy. She has a college-ready body, she will need to put on some more muscle, but she is crafty in her approach to the game, she can always set her self up to shoot the ball, that is evident. She will need to show us some more midrange and also taking it to the rim, but she is young and she has the time to develop that. She ended the game with 14 points in the win.
Orangewood Academy – Top Performers
2020, 5’4, SG, Sydney Gandy (Idaho Signee) – Sydney showed us last night and on numerous occasions, she can really shoot that ball when she is open and also that she can create enough space to get if off the dribble. I was impressed with her skill set last night against Troy, she torched them shot after shot, but went down in the third quarter and was never the same. We like her body type, she is ready for the next level, they will put some more muscle on her, but she is crafty enough with the dribble to get some things done on the floor. Her speed and quickness are good, her finishing at the rim is good as well and she is not afraid to go thru contact on a layup. She finished the game with 18 points in the loss.
2020, 5’8, SG, Clara Wiltgen – Clara came into the game last night and played some good defensive game for her team, she shot the ball decent knocking down two three pointers. She handled the ball and did not turn it over, but was not the primary ball handler for her team. She got to spots on the floor and that led to her being able to knock down those two three pointers as well as rebounded and ran the floor.
2020, 6’3, PF/C, Elodie Lalotte (Boise State Signee) – Elodie is a ton in the paint, skilled, very skilled, she has a jump hook with both hands, she has a nasty drop step that is going to move her defender out of the way. She runs the floor and is very athletic for her size, but her greatest attribute is her ability to block shots, she will run down in the paint and block your shot and then initiate the break by getting it out to one of the guards. She is a rebound machine and no one does it like her in the paint in California.
