Hailey HenryDede Davis-guard (Atascocita) I don’t have her listed in the PGH Texas Top 100 because I wasn’t sure if she was playing but that next update, she’s going to make a huge debut. She’s one of the best guards in the area and definitely one of the best in Texas, her first step is explosive, she creates in traffic and her shot is fluid and effortless as well as consistent but she makes things happen, on both ends of the court and had it not been for nagging injuries……
Hailey Henry-guard (Clear Brook) she’s long and athletic, she’s also a couple of inches shy of “the magic number” that’s 6’0 if you don’t know and she has quite a few a ways to put the ball in the basket. She can take defenders off the dribble, she has a nice stop and pop and reads the defense so well that her ability to play the passing lane is a layup going the other way. Add the fact that she can rebound, on both ends and
Marchelle WillisMarchelle Willis-guard (Ridgepoint) I have plenty of sayings that I have added a hashtag to and one of them is size don’t matter which was amended to include, when you can play and when you factor in Willis can shoot the long ball, handle the ball and create, for herself and teammates, that’s a big start and when you throw in “she plays within herself” that’s huge, especially in this era
Arianna Smith-guard (Galveston Ball) athletic guards are abundant however when you combine “under control” “court vision” “attacks from anywhere” that narrows the field and she does quite a few things that the novice evaluator may not notice but what really caught my eye was the heat she brings on defense, baseline to baseline which is somewhat of a lost art
Lauryn SmallLauryn Small-forward (Clear Brook) last name does not define her game because she’s 5’10 and plays big, in fact, I’ve seen her put together some huge finishes over the years. She attacks effortlessly from every angle on the court and finishes strong, after contact but that midrange is deadly and over the years, she’s shown me that she can create, under pressure and will take and make “the big shot”. On top of all of that, she rebounds strongly on both ends of the court.
