There will be eight games to see which teams will move on for a chance at the crown. Here is a preview of all the action to look forward to.
1- Immaculate Heart vs. 16- Fair Lawn: 1:30 PM at Old Tappan
Immaculate Heart will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed after a perfect 15-0 start. They have been absolutely dominant this season behind one of the best players in the state Anna Morris. She has been unstoppable on the offensive end. Fair Lawn will have their hands full in this game. Kellie Martinez and Sophia Pickett will have to really show up for this one but it will not be easy against an Immaculate Heart team that already has a head-to-head victory.
2- Saddle Day River vs. 15- Park Ridge: 10:30 AM at Old Tappan
Saddle Day River is currently undefeated against teams from New Jersey. Their one loss came against Florida Prep at the end of December. Saniah Caldwell is the star player to watch in this game. As a sophomore, Caldwell has emerged as one of the top scorers around New Jersey. She is averaging 21 points per game this season. Fellow sophomore Dakota Corey has been dynamic as well. This will be a tough matchup for Park Ridge.
3- Ramapo vs. 14- Indian Hills: 3:45 PM at Old Tappan
After a 14-0 start, Ramapo suffered their first loss this season to Immaculate Heart. They are hoping for a rematch after a 41-32 loss to get their redemption on a bigger stage. This will be their first matchup against Indian Hills this season. Sophomore Madison Schiller has emerged as the best player on Ramapo. Indian Hills is a 10 win team in their own right. They will need a big performance from Megan Sears if they want to pick up an upset victory in this one.
4- Teaneck vs. 13- Pascack Valley: 10:00 AM at Old Tappan
Teaneck has lost two of their last three games. They have a matchup with Northern Highlands before this tournament game. They are a well rounded team that can do it all. Elyssa Russo is one of the top shooters in the conference. Nahali Tittle is averaging 13.7 rebounds per game and is making just over four free throws per contest. Pascack Valley is an upset-minded team led by Kelly Andreason and her 14.7 points per game.
4- Old Tappan vs. 12- Demarest: 11:45 AM at Old Tappan
The host of this tournament will enter as the No. 5 seed. Old Tappan has wins over Paramus Catholic and Hackensack this season. They are a team with great depth led by Gianna Saccoccio. Demarest should not be taken lightly. They have played a tough schedule and have a proven star in Casey Sullivan. She is averaging 18.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
5- Paramus Catholic vs. 11- Cresskill: 3:45 PM at Old Tappan
Paramus Catholic has had a hard time beating the top teams in the conference. They have losses to Immaculate Heart, Ramapo, and Old Tappan this season. They are a team however, that can make some noise in this tournament. That is if they can get by Colleen McQuillen and 10-4 Cresskill. McQuillen is averaging 23.9 points per game and is one of the top scorers in New Jersey.
6- Hackensack vs. 10- River Dell: 12:15 PM at Old Tappan
Hackensack will look to rely on their veteran leadership in this tournament. Seniors Kyara Cowan and Natalie Patterson have been the catalysts all season long and that will not change down the stretch. They need to be careful with River Dell who seems to be getting hot at the right time. They have won seven or eight with their one loss coming to Demarest.
7- Westwood vs. 9- Northern Highlands: 3:15 PM at Old Tappan
The best first round game on paper is always the 8-9 matchup. This one should not disappoint. Northern Highlands has eight losses on the season with most of them coming against the top teams in Bergen County. There is an intriguing matchup in this game between Anna Sciuto and Katy Gashler, who leads Westwood with 15.7 points per game. Freshman Emma Starr will also have to show up for Northern Highlands in this one.
