Continue ReadingI have tried and explain over the years some simple things that go way over many heads in basketball and I’m going to do a breakdown of several things to look at as far as rankings. The going over the heads won’t change many thoughts, that’s fine but it will be in the back of a lot of people minds but always remember, “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and when you add “who you do it in front of” that should open your eyes somewhat. I catch many of the Texas players early, some just show what they’ll become at a very early age because I know what I’m looking at and I base things on the “then” as far as when the game was different, as opposed to the “now” because it has definitely changed but so has the numbers besides this next group
DeDe Davis-5’7 G (Atascocita) one of the top unsigned guards in Texas, her explosiveness and desire always captivated me yet nagging injuries have kept her “Under The Radar” but to say she can go is an understatement because her shooting performances, wait scoring performances in multiple tournaments tell me she’s back with a vengeance
Ericca Richardson-5’8 G (Trinity Christian) dropped her performances I’ve seen in a Player Spotlight article because of the progression she’s shown since July and that’s working on your game. Already signed with the University of New Orleans, she’s showing me to expect big things when she hits the campus and speaking of hitting, those NBA three pointers are coming in droves
Camryn Hill-6’0 PF (South Grand Prairie) she comes off the bench on one of the states’ top teams yet plays starters minutes and is amongst the leaders in several categories but she pulls off something many can’t do and that’s showing she can make an impact immediately. The midrange is fluid and as well as taking defenders off the dribble showing she’s an “and one” waiting to happen
Jillian Sowell-5’11 G (Southlake) I didn’t call her a #D1Lock when she was in elementary school, I think my exact words were she’s a promising young player with D1 potential yet low and behold, she has expand her game and range over the years to become one of the Metroplex leading scorers and I promise she’ll be doing the same at West Texas A&M after her MT Rice performance
Emily Dogbaste-5’10 G ( The Village School) I remember her as an energetic young player years ago that played with so much enthusiasm and over the years, I’ve watched her game evolve into OMG territory. Her athleticism and body control enable her to do many things around the basket, like score and rebound but she defends, plays the passing lane and just keeps coming at you. Did you ask about her outside shooting? well the UNSIGNED senior just dropped 9 from bta a few weeks ago, the 10th went in and out
Kamryn Jones-6’2 F (Magnolia West) caught her at the University of Houston camp a couple of years ago and she left me with a lasting impression, remember “long and athletic” is the base and when you add more to that, good things will happen and they have as she continues to elevate her game on both ends of the court and no matter how impressed I was, always remember to impress college coaches and with that being said, she did and has already signed with the Cougars
