Ironically the 2020 updates drop with Sarah Andrews returning tonight and several of my Top 10, Andrews with an ACL sprain, Jordyn Merritt and Harmoni Turner out for the season with tears yet this isn’t something that just started happening and I’ll touch on that later. What I will touch on is that even those mentioned were out, nothing changed as far as where I have them because I already what they can do, I said it years ago before anyone else and as I’ve mentioned previously, my own daughter went through it as well
Jordyn MerrittI’ll break down the top players by positions, whose stock rose on the list as well as who was added to the list but in the Top 20, I have to give a special S/O to three who were added
Asha Thompson-5’11 G (Desoto) simply blew me away with her variety of offensive skills that she’s toned up. She was already good, #D1Lock years ago yet she kept adding more and is still doing just that. Her range is longer and her ability to finish with contact is also better but the Old Dominion signee is concentrating on a return to the state tournament
Aja HolmesAja Holmes-5’11 G (Cibolo Steele) the long ball exhibition she put on in the Texas Invitational on back to back days set it off. Yeah she scored off the dribble, created her shot in traffic as well as scored on putbacks but her accuracy, as well as defense, just jumped which is even better news for TCU when she hits the campus running
Elyssa Coleman-6’3 P (Atascocita) she’s heading to the University of Texas after this season and she’s helped her team pull off a district upset to move into first place but what I saw at the MISD Tournament showed she had taken her game to another level. She finishes strong with both hands, takes defenders from the wing and faces the basket to score but on top of that, rebounds and outlet passes are on, well, point
