The biggest stock riser in the class of 2021 was Mitvalsky. She impressed this summer playing with All Iowa Attack and started to show a bit of a killer instinct with the ball in her hands. At times she is an unguardable combo guard and when she’s feeling it, she can take over the game at any moment. Unfortunately, Mitvalsky is sidelined right now but prior to going down she was averaging 15.0 points a game this high school season. Mitvalsky moved up 48 spots from 65th ranked to 17th ranked.
Denning and Harris are both players from AHSTW High School and both have proven this winter that they can really play. They have shown the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. I think that Denning is a little ahead of Harris right now in terms of development, however, both have gotten much better since July of last year and that is reflected in the rankings update. Both of these ladies are having big seasons for AHSTW and are a big reason for the success.
Sweeney rose up 45 spots in the updated rankings from #109 to #64. She isn’t scoring quite as much as I think she could but that is fine because in the few games that I have seen of Carroll this winter, she is playing the point guard role really well. Sweeney is a quick defender who causes havoc all over the floor. Look for her to continue to rise as she develops. Johnson is a very tough post for Osage and she moves up from #69 in the last update to now being #30 overall. Osage is one of the top 2A teams in the state and a lot of the success is due to Johnson and her play this season.
