The Lady Ravens led 36-28 after three quarters of play but the Lady Cavaliers would come storming back in the fourth and trailed 40-38 with 1:28 left in the game. Durham Academy trailed 42-39 with just 25.5 seconds left in the contest but a few timely turnovers gave Ravenscroft the room they needed to pull out a 44-39 victory.
As it stands, Ravenscroft remains undefeated in TISAC play at 8-0 while Durham Academy is now 3-4 on the season. The Lady Ravens will face Trinity Academy this Friday on the road. Durham Academy will travel to St. Mary’s on Thursday. Here’s a look at the five standouts from the game.
2020 Lauren Harrison, Ravenscroft School
Senior forward Lauren Harrison did a little bit of everything for Ravenscroft School in their win over Durham Academy. She finished with seven points, five rebounds and three steals in the Lady Ravens frontcourt. Harrison is a 5-foot-11 forward that does well in the paint to get position in the paint and make things happen around the rim.
2020 Emily Hayman, Ravenscroft School
Emily Hayman is another senior prospect that stood out with 13 points for Ravenscroft School. Hayman went a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw stripe to boost her squad on offense. She also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals. She’s a 5-foot-9 scrappy guard that can defend and make good decisions with the ball in her hands.
2021 Aliya Richmond, Ravenscroft School
Aliya Richmond is a junior guard that posted 19 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three assists in a victory. She made five field goals while going 9-of-13 (63 percent) from the free-throw line. Richmond is a 5-foot-9 guard prospect with an advanced skillset and showed it during the Lady Ravens victory.
2023 Joelle Davis, Durham Academy
Freshman wing Joelle Davis Davis kept the Lady Cavaliers in the game and led the way with 14 points on four made 3-pointers. She wasn’t shy about finding her shot on the perimeter and using her long arms well to force turnovers on the defensive end. As she learns to do a little bit of everything on the floor over the next few seasons, she’s a prospect with tons of potential.
2023 Kendall Harris, Durham Academy
Kendall Harris was another freshman that stood out with four points (2-of-3 shooting) and 13 rebounds (6 offensive) along with four steals. She uses her size and frame well to get tough rebounds and run the break. As she learns to create for herself more, she’ll be a prospect to keep eyes on over the next few seasons.
