We called her Chon for short and she was always there for my Baltimore Starz teams whenever we needed something. In fact, she was there for us before we even knew we needed anything and kept us organized. She was the ultimate team player so in the division named in her honor I looked for players who embodied that spirit. This was a great group of teams and they played some excellent ball.
Kristen Sterling, Pikesville, 2021
Kris showed that she is a big time player by making clutch shots in both games for the Panthers. She battled inside on both ends of the floor coming up with double figure rebounds in both games. Her scoring prowess is routine at this point as she can score from all over the court.
Charia Roberts, Pikesville, 2020
Charia was really engaged on the boards as usual and she played an efficient offensive game. Oh, and she reached the 1,000 point milestone during the event.
Chalon Miles, St. Mary’s Ryken, 2021
Chalon was electrifying during the tournament. Her jumper was working from deep and she was getting into the paint at will. Towson University and Coppin State both posted up with their head coaches coming to check out the show, hoping to land her services.
Destiny Townes, St. Mary’s Ryken, 2022
Destiny was all over the court making hustle plays, rebounding and scoring. She picked up a player of the game award for her work over the weekend. Definitely looking forward to seeing her again.
Laurie Satchell, St. Paul’s , 2022
Laurie was huge during St. Paul’s run to the championship. She came up with big play after big play in the championship game, dropping 22 points. Every time her team needed a bucket, she delivered.
Patricia Anumgba. Paint Branch, 2020
Patricia brought her usual attributes to the event. She scored in bunches, penetrating and making tough finishes, and knocked down her outside shots. She is a tough, physical guard that doesn’t shy away from contact.
Destiny Ryles, St. Paul’s, 2020
Destiny was a huge problem for defenders, especially in their first game. No one could really stay in front of her and she drew a bunch of fouls. She kept pressure on the defense by pushing the tempo and either scoring or feeding teammates for buckets. Definitely a good showing for the senior who is still looking for the right college fit.
