Here they are (in alphabetical order).
Kayla Beckford, Hudson Catholic: It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Beckford had a quiet game offensively in the low-scoring affair, but that didn’t stop her from playing the role of hero. The sophomore shooting guard hit the game winner, driving to the basketball and kissing the ball off the glass with 12 seconds left to play.
Makoye Diawara, Bayonne: The senior did what she has done all season – dominate the paint. No matter how many players Hudson Catholic put on her, Diawara always seemed to come down with the ball. She also knocked down a 3-pointer on the way to a 20-point, 20-rebound effort.
Zanai Jones, Hudson Catholic: Regardless of the opponent, you know what you are going to get from the point guard. She was a pest on defense, and offensively, she weaved through traffic to get to the rim, hitting a clutch 3-pointer to help set up the last-second heroics for Beckford. She scored a team-high 19 points.
Eniya Scott, Bayonne: Scott’s shots weren’t falling but that didn’t stop her from letting them fly. Her floater is her signature shot and she made just enough of them to put Bayonne in position to steal the victory. She finished the game with 15 points. She was also a lock-down defender.
Anasia Staton, Hudson Catholic: The athletic wing was aggressive on offense, keeping pressure on the Bayonne defense with her drives to the rim. She was active on the boards (seven rebounds) and was Hudson Catholic’s second-leading scorer (nine points) on the night.
