Here are a five sophomores who performed well to the large crowd of fans at the event:
Ava Sholtis Ava Sholtis 5'8" | CG Fort Loramie | 2022 State OH , 5-10 Fort Loramie
I have known about Ava since early in her freshman year, now the rest of the state got to see her potential. She is a kid who didn’t even start but played the minutes. For many other teams in the Dayton area, she would be their best player. Gets in position to make plays happen for the Redskins, she is long and athletic. She does all the little things well and can score in multiple ways. Ava has a major upside and is a key player for a team who is legitimately 12 deep.
Chance Gray Chance Gray 5'9" | PG Winton Woods | 2022 State #40 Nation OH , 5-10 Lakota West
Everytime I see her play, she seems to improve and do more things. Flashy athletic guard who can score in all three phases, perimeter, in the paint and on the fly. Great transition player and can push the tempo north-to-south. She has great floor vision and is explosive to the rim. Chance also is a solid perimeter threat.
KK Bransford KK Bransford 5'11" | PG Mount Notre Dame | 2022 State #6 Nation OH , 5-10 Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame
What hasn’t been said about this kid? She is the best sophomore in the state of Ohio, and is the most dangerous on the floor. Can will explode by her defender and get to the rim, strong physical player who has all the tools. Excellent handles with either hand. Solid on-ball defender, causes havoc and will create turnovers. Can score in transition as good as anyone in Ohio.
Mallory Hullinger, 5-8 Kettering Fairmont
On a team loaded with incredible D1 post presence and two senior guards, Mallory just goes out and does her job. She has good range from the arc, hitting six threes in this game on Saturday. Doesn’t turn the ball over much, and with all the firepower they have, she gets her opportunity to settle into the offense. Solid defender, good handles. Smart basketball IQ and heady player.
Breezie Williams Breezie Williams 5'6" | PG Glen Oak | 2022 State OH , 5-3 Canton Glen Oak
Although she struggled to score and finish, there was no doubt this kid can play. She is an electric point guard with a high motor. She pushed the ball well in transition and showed some flashy tendencies. Loved her energy.
