Freshman Miyah Verse has outstanding game for Flagstaff against Thunderbird

If she wasn't on your radar before, she should be now. Flagstaff Eagles freshman Miyah Verse was one of the key players for the team in its 58-39 victory over the Thunderbird Chiefs on Wednesday. While her stats from the entire season aren't up online, it didn't look like this was her first time having a performance out on the hardwood like that, as she made things look easy for her. In the game tonight, she racked up 14 points, along with a number of assists and rebounds. As just a freshman, she's already got a good amount of size and strength. She's taller than the average girl on the court and she knows it, using it to the best of her ability. When it comes to rebounding, she was consistently coming down with the ball. Offensively, it even led to a few second-chance points. Verse's ball handling skills are solid, and passing to her teammates on the court looked very fluid. She spent most of the third quarter of the game setting her teammates up with shots, showing she also knows how to share the spotlight. She also has great cardio. The altitude in Flagstaff is great for her to train in, so when she comes down to the valley to play, she looks like she can play for hours without getting tired. One area she can still use some improvement in is at the free throw line. In the game against Thunderbird, Verse was two for five. As Flagstaff closes out the remainder of its season, keep an eye on Verse. It's rare that anyone in the valley gets an opportunity to watch her play because of the distance, but she's definitely someone to watch as she continues to grow and progress.
