Question
What’s the biggest strength in your game?
Jordan Banks
The biggest strengths in my game are, my shooting, my rebounding, and my athleticism. I am in better shape this year so its even easier to get up and down the court.
Question
You recently committed to UofM – Dearborn. How does it feel?
Jordan Banks
Committing to U of M-Dearborn feels amazing! I feel like all of my hard work has finally paid off and I get to play the sport that I love at a prestigious school like UofM Dearborn. The coaching staff and the girls have welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to be a part of the UofM Dearborn family.
Question
What was it that made UofM – Dearborn the right fit?
Jordan Banks
UofM Dearborn is the right fit because it feels like home. The team from day one, the coaches from day one, have welcomed me and treated me like family. Plus the class sizes are perfect, you’re not just another number at the school, they care about you as a student and I mean how can you not want to be associated with that block M, it’s the best feeling.
Question
What was it like being recruited?
Jordan Banks
The recruiting process is intense. I got emails and DM’s from coaches and schools that I didn’t know were even looking at me, and while that’s super exciting, you then have to find the school that’s the best fit for you not only athletically but academically. I’m really happy with my decision.
Question
What are you the most excited for as far as college basketball?
Jordan Banks
The thing I’m most excited for with college basketball is the intensity, the competitiveness, and the lifelong bond you make with your teammates. It’s a sisterhood.
Question
What are your personal goals for this season?
Jordan Banks
My personal goals for this season are to be the best leader for my team. We’ve got a lot girls that are new to varsity so making sure they’re comfortable and understand their role on the team is important, and getting us as far as I can as co-captain. We’ve got a lot of talent it’s just about getting it all to work together.
Question
What advice would you give a kid that dreams of playing basketball at a high level someday?
Jordan Banks
The advice I’d give someone that dreams of playing at the next level is first off remember eyes are always watching. Whether it’s coaches or recruiters, someone’s always watching so make sure you got your body language in check, make sure you’re always giving 100% and playing your best game. Secondly stay on top of your academics because that’s going to be a crucial part of the recruiting process. They’re going to look at everything and you want to make sure that you’re more than just an athlete, but a student athlete that will represent their program well. Third I’d say do your research, a lot of schools will call, text, or message and say things they may think you want to hear but make sure you’re doing your research to see if that school is really a fit for you because if you’re not playing basketball, would you still want to be at that school? That’s one question you have to ask yourself. Lastly I say just always make sure you’re working on your game. There’s no days off in this process and there’s thousands of kids competing for scholarships everyday so make yourself stand out and have fun.
Question
Who’s your favorite teacher? Why?
Jordan Banks
My favorite teacher is Miss Laliberte. She is the faculty advisor for student leadership and I was elected to student leadeship this year and she has been in my corner since I got to Bloomfield Hills High School. She made the adjustment so smooth for me. I can always go to her with questions, she always tells me when I’m doing right and wrong and I’m really going to miss her. She’s been a great part of my high school career at Bloomfield Hills High School.
