Which players did their thing? Here are the five players we saw making noise.
Destiny Adams, Manchester: The junior has arguably been the state’s best player so it’s not shocking that she had a strong performance on the first day of the Metro Classic. Although Manchester fell to Montverde, Adams had a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds, and added five steals and four blocks.
Zoe Brooks, Trenton Catholic Academy: The 5-9 freshman guard did a little bit of everything to make sure that TCA came up victorious in their second showcase game of the season against a Maryland powerhouse. She led all scorers with 21 points and also grabbed seven rebounds, handed out five assists and made five steals in a 69-62 win against New Hope at the Metro Classic.
Saniah Caldwell, Saddle River Day: The sophomore is one of the state’s best playmakers, whether she’s calling her own number or making things happens for her teammates. She shook loose for 23 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in a victory against Mount St. Mary at the Coaches Choice.
Christina Dalce, Rutgers Prep: The hard-playing junior forward has carried Rutgers Prep at times this season. Against Montverde, she notched a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds although her squad came up short at the Metro Classic.
Hannah Hidalgo, Paul VI: One of the top lead guards in the state in her class had all of her tricks working in a 65-47 win against Morris Catholic at the Coaches Choice. She was a pest on defense and got the job done on offense en route to a stat line of 17 points, seven assists and seven steals.
