Tom Gonsalves and his staff were excellent, making sure I had a table to setup and whatever I needed to do the job to cover this event. I got out my computer and phone and I began to watch some good basketball all in one location, I sat their all day Friday and all day on Saturday to get the bulk of the teams covered, because I was booked and would not return on Monday. Here are the game we covered and some pics to keep you entertained, this event had some powerhouse teams in attendance from up North and out of state that were truly impressive. Here we go with game results and who we thought impressed in the games.
St.Marys HS Stockton 80 over Bishop Gorman (NV) 38
2022, 6’5, PF/C, St. Marys (Stockton), Ashley Lewis – Ashley is that young big that everyone in the gym is pursuing to play with their program, she is agile, she runs the floor well and has decent hands catching the ball in the paint. If she seals you in the paint, you are done, she will finish over you and bump you out of the paint. She shoots the ball off the backboard which means someone has been working with her and she is a decent shot blocker. I believe she may get another inch or two and if she does, she is going to be a problem for most schools. Watch this girl on the circuit and she will be good.
2022, 6’2, PF, St. Marys (Stockton), Tiairra Hill-Brown – Another young forward that is getting better each and every day, she runs the floor and get buckets in the transition. She shot the ball from the midrange and below well and was a willing screener in the game. She is one of the players that does most of the work on the floor, set screens, take charges and run down offensive players trying to block their shots.
2021, 6’0, SG, Bishop Gorman (NV), Izzy Westbrook – Izzy is a smooth operator on the floor, she can score from all three level on the court, she has nice size for a guard and she knows how to use her body to get anywhere she wants on the floor. Smooth stroke from deep and is a good midrange shooter for her team. She is defensively gifted, often guarding the best guard from the opposing team. She will take a charge, she is hard nosed and one of the most vocal kids on the floor for her team. We like what we saw from Izzy.
Centennial HS (NV) 72 over Bonita Vista HS 50
2020, 6’3, SF, Centennial (NV), Aishah Brown – Aishah is one of the toughest and most agile and skilled post I have seen this year, she literally will not back down to anyone and is ready to fight for her team on the floor. She is a rebounder supreme, uses her body to get rid of the defenders, skilled out to the midrange shot, working on a three ball I would believe. Sets hard screens on defenders and will outwork most post I have seen this year in the paint. Excellent attitude and ready for action, (Committed to UCSD).
2021, 6’3, SG, Centennial (NV), Taylor Bigby – Taylor is that long guard that every coach would like to play for them, she is dangerous off the dribble, a threat to score from all three levels on the court. She is long and lanky, can sit down and defend 1-5 positions in my book, but is also one of the toughest girls on the floor at any point in time. Nice stroke from the deep line, midrange pull up is immaculate and she is a dog in every sense of the word. Really like what I see from this kid. (Committed to Oregon).
2021, 5’8, SG, Bonita Vista, Julia Cosalan – Julia is a lanky shooting guard with a nice stroke from the outside, I have personally seen this kid knock down 6 of 7 three pointers in a game and has no conscience when it comes to shooting. She can score from the midrange pull up and the three line, she is still developing her drive game to the basket, but I have seen signs of her drive game improving over this weekend. Julia is improving each and every game, Coaches take a good look at this TRUE SHOOTER…
2021, 5’7, PG, Bonita Vista, Sylena Peterson – Sylena is a dynamic point guard with the skills that will excite you when you watch her play, she is smooth, she is patient and is under control at all times on the floor. She does not turn it over and she is a coaches player, she does the right thing all the time on the floor, she is quite smart with a high IQ for the game, but one thing you can count on with her is consistency. She has about 6 to 7 Division 1 offer already, but her opportunities will grow in the spring and summer months. She is a player.
Clovis North(CA) 62 over Bishop Gorman (NV) 53
2020, 5’7, PG, Clovis North, Savanna Tucker – Savanna is one of most fun to watch kids in the game today, I had never seen her play in person, saw tape, but man it was worth watching this girl entertain us. She is crafty with the handles, she is quick, she is slender and strong and has some great body control when it comes to making baskets at the rim. She can score from all three levels with consistency and not even flinch when handling her business on the floor. She was a star as we watched her play, she will definitely move up in the rankings in California, because trust me, she will be an impact player as a freshman in our opinion. She had 22 points in this game. (Committed to play for Long Beach State University)
2023, 5’9, CG, Bishop Gorman (NV), Reina Bell with 13pts in the game for BG – slender and lanky guard with some swag to her game, she is crafty at times, but I believe as a freshman, she is still developing her whole game at this point. She should that she is not afraid of anyone on the floor, she can shoot out to the three line with decent consistency, but we think she will be prime in her spring and summer seasons coming up. Willing defender on the floor and also a leader for her group right now, she will improve and represent her school well this spring and summer.

St. Mary’s Stockton (CA) 77 over Bonita Vista CA) 36
2020, 6’3, PF/C, St. Marys Stockton, Amaya Oliver 22 points on the night – Amaya is a super-star in her own right, she is the all-around player for St. Marys of Stockton. She can score from all three-level on the floor and is one of the toughest kids in the gym at any given time. She is long, lanky, uses her size to dominate inside the paint, can score in multiple ways in the paint and off the dribble. Shoots the three-pointer with consistency, has nice post moves in the paint and is a great midrange shooter from the free-throw line. This kid is a great find and all of the coaches that subscribe to our site, she is special and I still do not know why she is still on the board. Pursue this one, again, she is special.
2023, 5’10, SG, St. Marys Stockton, Brook Perry 12 points on the night – Brook is special as well with her size for as a freshman, we watched her use her size and body type to keep her defenders at bay. She is pretty crafty with the handles, shoots the ball well from all levels and is a very willing defender. She was able to use her vision and high IQ to keep her defenders guessing what she was going to do with the ball next. Great size for a freshman and her boyd type will only improve as she gets stronger and quicker. Expect this one to be special as well, she is very good.
2022, 5’3, PG, Bonita Vista, Aubrey Valdez 11pts – Aubrey is very crafty and smart for a small guard type, but she is a true point guard with a knack for scoring on the floor and she does it with finess. She is quick, smart, high IQ, shooter from all three levels and one of the more consistent guards at her height and size. She is a menace to the rim, she slips thru the defense and finds a way to score on her defender with ease. She shoots the three ball with confidence and should be a starter on this team from now on, this girl is efficient. Keep an eye on this one for the next few years.
