Allen got out to an early lead at home in the first quarter, but Prosper managed to erase a 10-point deficit in the second. However, Allen got hot from deep in the third and never looked back. Prosper competed hard in the second half of action, but it wasn’t enough to come out on top on the road as they fell 55-48 to Allen.
Here are eight intriguing prospects from the game:
Tyler Jackson – 2020 5’7 Shooting Guard (DFW Elite EYBL) Allen HS – Jackson was named a McDonald’s All-American nominee a day after this contest, and rightfully so. She knocked down five threes by my count vs. Prosper, getting particularly hot from range in the third quarter. The senior two-guard also showed that she can get to the basket with some nice baseline drives. She was nothing short of dominant in this game.
Mackenzie Wurm – 2021 6’3 Center Allen HS – Wurm didn’t have the opportunity to do a whole lot as a scorer since the Eagles were on fire from three-point land, but she still found ways to impact the outcome of this matchup. She had a couple of big-time blocks on the defensive end and controlled the glass all night. Her long and wiry frame makes her a stellar rim protector. The senior big had a nice and-one bucket too, displaying her ability to finish strong through contact.
Zoe Jackson – 2021 5’7 Point Guard Allen HS – The junior point guard is a tremendous all-around floor general. She possesses excellent quickness and can shoot the triple from the catch or off the bounce, hitting a buzzer beater three off the dribble from the top of the key to end the first quarter. She makes timely cuts when she is playing off the ball and has a nice little floater in her arsenal as well.
Alexis Cortez – 2023 5’8 Forward (Lady Drive Nation Duncan 2023) Allen HS – Cortez provides the Eagles with a superb defender off the bench who can do some damage off the drive offensively. She handles the ball well on the wing. I love her intensity and physicality on the defensive end. The freshman wing is going to be a great two-way player in the years to come.
Alyssa Tarpley – 2022 5’10 Shooting Guard (CyFair 16U EYBL) Allen HS – Tarpley is another talented young prospect who comes off the bench for Allen. She hit a couple of threes vs. Prosper on Tuesday night, including a super deep three to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter to give Allen a 47-29 lead heading into the fourth. The sophomore guard has great size for the position and is an outstanding shooter.
Madison Cleary – 2020 5’10 Shooting Guard (Cy Fair Elite 17U Platinum) Prosper HS – This is the third time I’ve gotten to see Maddie Cleary play this season, and each time I’ve been thoroughly impressed. She has such a smooth style of play. The senior guard can shoot the three from anywhere, but my favorite part about her game is her capability as a distributor. She is an incredibly polished and accurate passer who can make every pass in the book. She is more than capable of playing at the next level in my opinion due to her combination of IQ and skill.
Peyton Mosley – 2022 5’9 Combo Guard Prosper HS – Mosley is another very solid two-way player. She did an excellent job of getting inside and drawing fouls when her team was struggling to get things going offensively in the first half. I also liked how she can shoot the three but only takes smart shots from behind the arc. She is a scrappy defender with quick hands too, coming away with several steals vs. Allen.
Chandler Browning – 2021 5’4 Point Guard Prosper HS – Browning gets it done on both ends despite her size. She is decisive when she decides to drive the lane and knows how to angle the ball off the glass to get her shoot off over taller defenders. She had a very productive fourth quarter in this game, getting inside for good looks while also proving that she can hit the triple when left open.
