Tuesday, Jan. 14
St. Thomas Aquinas at Edison, 7:00 PM
The Trojans are currently ranked sixth in the state behind Emma Boslet and Kelsey Ransom. This will be a rematch of last season’s GMC Championship game. St. Thomas Aquinas is once against one of the top teams in the state while Edison is just starting to figure it out. They have won five of six and will look to pick up a statement win in conference play.
Wednesday, Jan. 15
Kingsway at Clearview, 5:30 PM
This Tri-County Conference matchup will feature two unbeaten teams. Kingsway has won every game this season by nine or more points. This will be their toughest game to date, and could be their toughest of the season. Clearview has made some noise against south Jersey teams but they will return north to a worthy opponent. This is the best game on a slow Wednesday night. There will be plenty of fireworks in this one.
Thursday, Jan. 16
Hudson Catholic at Bayonne, 4:30 PM
This is a matchup between two top 15 teams in the state. There are not many teams that can match Bayonne’s talent with Makoye Diawara and Eniya Scott but Hudson Catholic is one of them. Kayla Beckford and Adiana Pacheco lead a talented Hudson Catholic squad on the road in this one. This is a huge rivalry matchup, especially this season since both teams are highly ranked.
Manasquan at Red Bank Catholic, 5:30 PM
Sophomores Ally Carman and Justine Pissott have led Red Bank Catholic all season long. They currently sit at No. 2 in the state and will face their toughest test yet. Manasquan also features two tough sophomores in Georgia Heine and Brooke Hollaway. The Class of 2022 is well represented in this game. This is an early season Shore Conference matchup that will show who the truly dominant team will be.
Gill St. Bernard’s at Watchung Hills, 7:00 PM
This Somerset County matchup will be important for both teams. Gill St. Bernard’s is looking to stay on track. Caileigh Walsh has this offense running smoothly. Watchung Hills has a great chance in this game. This is their second tough test of the week and they have a chance to show that they are a force in conference play.
Saturday, Jan. 18
St. Rose at Franklin, 4:00 PM
This game will have some of the top players in the state featured in it. Brynn Farrell is at the top of the list as she is scoring on anyone and anything that comes near her. Franklin is the defending Tournament of Champions’ winner from last season but things have not come so easily. They can change the narrative with a win in this game. This will be a must watch game and could be the game of the week in girls’ basketball.
