The regular season has been exciting but there is no bigger stage than the tournaments. These are some players who will shine come county and conference tournament time. Here are the top girls basketball players from the previous week.
Haleigh Schafer (2021) | Absegami
Schafer is scoring 19.8 points per game this season and is coming off another great week. She scored 20 more points in all four games for Absegami this week. In a win over Buena, Schafer scored 27 points to lead the way. She followed that up with two straight games with 23 points against Oakcrest and Atlantic Christian.
Brianna Schweitzer (2022) | Allentown
Schweitzer has scored in double-figures in five straight games. She began her week with two straight 18 point games in wins over Princeton and Hopewell Valley. As a sophomore, she has emerged as one of the top offensive threats for Allentown.
Madison Carey (2020) | Monroe
Carey is not only the best shooter in the GMC, but she is one of the top shooters in the state. Monroe went 3-0 this week behind Carey’s 62 points. She began the week with 23 points in a blowout win over East Brunswick. Monroe then defeated J.P. Stevens and their star finished with 19. Carey closed out a perfect week with 20 points against Metuchen.
Samantha Osorio (2020) | Kearny
Osorio might have put up the best game of the week with 37 points and 15 rebounds against Ferris. She is averaging 21.3 points per game this season and scored 25 a game last week. Osorio has been a monster on the boards and that has not changed. She grabbed 15.3 rebounds in three wins for Kearny during their excellent week.
Tyonna Bailey (2023) | Morris Catholic
Bailey has been a do-it-all player for Morris Catholic in her first high school season. She emerged as a star quickly and is showing that it is no fluke. In a win over Union City, Bailey finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
Camryn Foltz (2020) | Colts Neck
Foltz has been a staple for Colts Neck during her time there. She is a dynamic scorer and was rewarded against Neptune when she reached her 1,000th point. Colts Neck picked up a big win over Middletown South this week led by 30 points from Foltz. This team is a threat in the Shore Conference as long as Foltz is running the show.
Alexis Davis (2023) | Glassboro
Davis has come in as a freshman and made a huge impact for Glassboro. She is averaging 21.5 points per game in her first season. She finished with 20 or more points in all three victories for Glassboro this week. IT began with a 25 point performance against Oakcrest. Davis followed that game up with 22 points against Gloucester and 21 points against Clayton.
