The Patriots picked up wins over Bismarck and Bismarck St. Mary’s last week to stay perfect on the year. The defense has been spectacular and the balance and depth offensively has allowed the team to sustain incredible success. Coming up this week is No. 2 Bismarck Legacy in what could be the best game of the season to this point.
Bismarck Legacy
The Sabers moved to 9-0 with wins over Bismarck St. Mary’s and Mandan last week. It’s been a complete effort all around for the Sabers this year as six players average at least five points per game with four averaging between 8 and 14. They’ll take on Bismarck Century this week for the top spot in the WDA.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds beat Grand Forks Red River to stay undefeated on the season, moving to 6-0 last week. They aren’t blowing as many teams out as they did a year ago, but this group is capable of winning in a variety of ways, using a combination of explosive, if albeit inconsistent offense and stout defense.
Fargo Shanley
The Deacons earned hard-fought wins last week over West Fargo Sheyenne and Grand Forks Red River. Reile Payne has been outstanding all year and the Deacons have one of the best offenses in the state.
Mandan
The Braves moved to 6-3 on the year after splitting two games last week. They lost to No. 2 Bismarck Legacy in contested fashion before beating Williston in overtime. Lakyn Darras is picking things up after a slow start to the season.
Jamestown
The Bluejays rebounded from a rough post-Christmas swoon, beating Williston and Dickinson last week. Grace Hegerle and Ella Falk were terrific last week in the wins. Hegerle averaged 20 points per game while Falk put up 19 and 10 against Dickinson and eight points, seven rebounds and nine assists in the win over Williston.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders lost to Fargo Shanley and Devils Lake last week, and now are 0-3 against the other three teams that figure to contend for top-four spots in the EDC. Red River has been clearly better than the rest of the league though, and the Roughriders’ consistency allows them to stay at this spot in the rankings.
Fargo Davies
The Eagles suffered a tough home loss to West Fargo Sheyenne last week but rebounded with a blowout win over Grand Forks Central. The Eagles have some impressive wins coupled with perplexing losses.
Bismarck
The Demons lost by four to Bismarck Century earlier in the week then beat a sneaky-solid Minot team to move to 5-3 on the season. The Demons have terrific depth and balance again this year and players like Peyton Gerving and Jilee Golus have taken the next step.
West Fargo
The Packers picked up a pair of blowout wins last week, beating Fargo North and Valley City. West Fargo is a contender for a top-four seed in the EDC but looks like the best team in that second tier after the top four at this point.
