The Sabers knocked Bismarck Century from the ranks of the undefeated, handing the Patriots a 58-47 defeat. While the team has won with defense and depth all year, it was the studs, Alexis Dressler and Arianna Berryhill delivering in a big way.
Bismarck Century
The Patriots’ winning streak was finally snapped last week. If the loss to Bismarck Legacy proves anything, it’s that the Patriots are beatable. But all it took was the now No.1-ranked team holding them to a 36 percent shooting while also shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line. The Patriots are still very-much a state title contender.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds blew out Valley City to stay unbeaten last week. Jailyn Martinson continues to ascend in the lineup and scored 17 points in the win. Jes Mertens is one of the best two-way players in the EDC and Ramsey Brown and Abby Johnson are the definition of steady.
Fargo Shanley
The Deacons got a big boost from Hadley Huber last week, who came back to score 17 points. Reile Payne continues to stuff the stat sheet. The senior do-it-all guard is averaging better than 21 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Mandan
The Braves moved to 8-3 on the year, beating Jamestown and Watford City last week. Lakyn Darras had another marvelous game, going for 27 points in the win over the Bluejays. With Darras struggling to score in the game against the Wolves, it was Sydney Gustavsson and Maria Moore combining to score 43 points on 23 shots.
Bismarck
The Demons continue to win with depth and balance this year. They went 2-0 last week, beating Dickinson and Turtle Mountain in convincing fashion. Eight players scored at least five points in the win over Turtle Mountain which helped offset rough shooting nights from Jilee Golus and Mandie Picard. Elle Hill teams with Golus and Picard to combine for 35 points in the win over the Midgets.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders continue to beat up on the lower-half of the EDC, as they blew out Wahpeton last week. Alex Page continued her solid stretch of play, scoring 16 points and hauling in 13 rebounds.
Fargo Davies
The Eagles picked up a terrific win last week, blowing out West Fargo, 72-39. Ryleigh Wacha was awesome in that game, scoring 18 points, grabbing nine rebounds and handing out four assists. She’s averaging 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game on the year.
Jamestown
The Bluejays suffered a loss to Mandan last week, coughing the ball up 20 times in the 10-point defeat. Jamestown is 3-4 since a 3-0 opening week of the season, showing an ability to beat the teams clearly in the lower tier of the WDA, while struggling against the teams considered in the upper-echelon.
West Fargo
The Packers took one on the proverbial chin last week against Fargo Davies, losing 72-39. West Fargo has the talent to contend for a top-four spot in the EDC and will have opportunities to pick up some steam in the coming weeks against some of the lower-rated teams in the league.
