Here are this week’s top-10 teams in Class B
Kindred
The Vikings stay at No.1 again, as they are 10-0 on the season after wins in the last week against Tri-State, Richland, Central Cass and Shiloh Christian. Kindred continues to dominate the opposition on both ends and Abbie Duchsherer is probably the frontrunner for the Player-of-the-Year in Class B and the Viking have a complete outfit with player filling roles to a tee around her.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich
LEM has a number of excellent wins on the season already and picked up another one last week, beating a traditionally strong Stephen-Argyle team from Minnesota by 17. The Cardinals have one of the toughest defenses to figure out for teams and their collective athleticism and skill make them a legitimate title contender.
Thompson
Aside from a loss to No. 2 LEM, the Tommies have been terrific this year. They beat top-ranked Four Winds/Minnewaukan last week and sit at 10-1 on the season now. Kenzie Hughes and Macy Jordheim form a terrific one-two punch and the Tommies are arguably the best defensive team in the state.
Rugby
The Panthers are 11-0 on the season, dominating opponents with stifling defense and just enough offense. Brooke Blessum leads the way from the interior, averaging 12 points and six rebounds. Mykell Heidlebaugh has been a breakout player on the perimeter, averaging nearly 10 points, five rebounds and more than three steals per game.
Kidder County
The Wolves took a loss to a very good LEM squad but are still among the favorites in Region 3 thanks to an elite defense and one of the best individual players in the state in senior Madelyn Schmidt. The Wolves are 11-1 on the year and
Trenton
The Tigers have been absolutely dominant all year and earned a signature win over the weekend, beating a state-tournament caliber team in Hettinger-Scranton. Trenton showed it is capable of winning games in contested fashion against high-end competition. They are going to be really hard for anybody to beat.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan
The Indians suffered a loss to No. 3 Thompson last week but remain one of the elite teams in the state and on the shortlist of teams that can legitimately win a state title. Four Winds/Minnewaukan has the balance, depth, athleticism and experience to win a state title and the Indians have shown they can beat anybody.
Carrington
Aside from consecutive losses to two of the top ranked teams in the state early in the year, the Cardinals have been what they were expected to be. They’ve been dominant on both ends of the floor. Hannah Hagel, Addison Hoornaert, and Kierra Eli have given the Cardinals steady production.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood
MLS had a rough loss to an undefeated Rugby team but rebounded last week with wins over Kenmare and Des Lacs Burlington. The Mavericks won both games in contested fashion, proving they can execute in hotly-contested fashion. Defense is going to be a calling card for this team all year and it’ll allow them to go a long way.
Grafton/St. Thomas
The Spoilers have losses to a pair of top-three teams by 10 combined points. Since then, they’ve won four games by a combined 111 points. Grafton/St. Thomas is going to be in the mix all year as a contender given their collection of experience, skill, athleticism and high-end talent with Carlee Sieben and Julia Dusek leading the way.
