The Vikings blew out Central Cass Monday but didn’t play after that. Kindred isn’t just beating teams, its blowing the opposition out. With their combination of experience, size, athleticism and skill, the Vikings are the best team in the state and the title favorite until someone knocks them out.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich
LEM has been the No. 2 team in Class B all year and it stays that way here as the Cardinals beat St. John by 48 last week. They’ve got all the pieces including the high-end talent in Callie Ronnigen plus a terrific cache of role-players who can impact the game in a number of ways.
Thompson
Thompson’s played a tough schedule all year, holding wins over teams like Four Winds/Minnewaukan and Velva with only a loss to No. 2 LEM in the first week of the season. Kenzie Hughes and Macy Jordheim form a terrific one-two punch and the Tommies are arguably the best defensive team in the state. That formula makes them a legitimate title contender.
Rugby
The Panthers are 11-0 on the season after beating Drake-Anamoose by 44 last week. Defense is going to keep them at the top of the rankings, as they surrender just 29 points per game. While the offense isn’t exactly high-powered, the Panthers have gotten good play from Brooke Blessum and Mykell Heidlebaugh.
Kidder County
The Wolves destroyed Strasburg/Zeeland last week, allowing just 14 points. Armed with an elite defense and one of the best guards in the state in Madelyn Schmidt, Kidder County is going to be a factor at the highest levels in Class B.
Trenton
Trenton showed it is capable of winning games in contested fashion against high-end competition in its win over Hettinger/Scranton the previous week. The Tigers did it again in a tough win over a good Kenmare team. The Tigers picked up a couple blowout wins last week too, and are 11-0 on the season.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan
Four Winds/Minnewaukan has the balance, depth, athleticism and experience to win a state title and the Indians have shown they can beat anybody. It was another businesslike week for the Indians as they blew out Benson County and Warwick by a combined 84 points.
Carrington
The Cardinals have been dominant on both ends of the floor this year with Hannah Hagel, Addison Hoornaert, and Kierra Eli providing steady production. A win over Central Cass last week was impressive, and moves Carrington to 10-2 on the season.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood
MLS picked up three wins last week, beating Lewis and Clark-Berthold, Bishop Ryan, and Velva. The Mavericks have been consistently strong on the offensive end of the floor aside from a brutal game against Rugby, and remain one of the elite defensive outfits in the state.
Grafton/St. Thomas
The Spoilers took back-to-back losses to a pair of top-10 teams by 10 combined points. During their five-game winning streak, the Spoilers are winning by more than 30 points per game. Grafton/St. Thomas is going to be in the mix all year as a contender given their collection of experience, skill, athleticism and high-end talent with Carlee Sieben and Julia Dusek leading the way.
