Positional Rankings: 2022 Centers
Our updated rankings for the 2022 class is now out. We actually saw a decrease in the number of centers ranked from seven to five but that was mainly due to some players have gotten quicker and expanded their games so they are now marked as power forwards. Below you can find the positional rankings for each player as well as a breakdown of the position overall.
Smith is at the top spot in the 2022 rankings for centers, just ahead of Arnold. Both of these players have shown to be able to stretch out the defense but still project to stick at the center spot with their height right now. Arnold is the better shooter of the two currently, while Smith is the better post scorer and rebounder. Both of these players have shown glimpses of being able to stretch out and play the forward spot, but I don’t think they are there quite yet. Neilsen is likely someone that most haven’t heard of but as a 6’3 player there is always room on a college roster. Neilsen is a skilled post player who has continued to improve over the year. Hilbrands and Etscheidt could also be two players who “graduate” to the power forward position at the next update. They both have proven that they are athletic enough to do it, but can they consistently score away from the basket is the question. There is a center here for schools from the division one level to the NAIA level including two players in the top ten of the overall rankings.
