That would be junior Karissa Lukasiewcz. And not accounting for the junior shooting guard-small forward combo player is a mistake few teams get the chance to make twice.
The 5-foot-11 player is among the Eagles’ best players, and is a key component as the best post entry passer in the Eagles’ split high-low offense.
“She understands when Raegan (Beers) wants the ball but also went to cut off and relocate,” Eagles head coach Jessika Caldwell said. “She’s an outstanding shooter and a quiet scorer. If you’re not paying attention, she can really hurt you. And she’s our best defender at the top of the press. She does a really good job on defense with her timing and keeping the ball handlers off balance and for us to be successful, Karissa has to be solid.”
Lukasiewcz has reportedly drawn interest from several schools but is still trying to figure out if basketball is something she wants to pursue at the collegiate level.
Through the first nine games of her junior season, Lukasiewcz is averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She is shooting 38 percent from the field and 29 percent (7 for 24) from 3-point range. The quiet yet opportunistic scorer showed the type of damage she can do when left alone against Lone Creek at the Tarkanian Classic on Dec. 19, scoring 13 points on a 5-for-9 shooting effort that saw her go 2 for 3 from long range in a 58-39 victory.
Lukasiewcz played club for Hardwood Elite this past summer.
