Some of the top teams in the state of Kentucky faced off against some of the top teams out-of-state as well. I attended all of the Saturday games, where the Kentucky teams ended up winning 4 of the 10 games.
In this article, I will be discussing the Juniors that stood out the most.
Junior Standouts
Tiarra East (Butler)
Butler was one of the four Kentucky teams that walked away with the victory in this Classic. Junior Tiarra East for Butler was great in their win over Lebanon (TN). For a game with little offense, Tiarra came up big with 17 points and the Co-Player of the Game award. She managed to grab 5 rebounds and shot 6/11 from the field. All of her buckets came inside as she drove to the basket with great force and speed. Tiarra is one of the top Juniors in the state and she proved it Saturday in a gritty win.
Brooklynn Miles (Franklin County)
The Junior guard is ranked as the #1 Junior in KY, according to our rankings. Her quickness and ability to drive inside is some of the best I have seen. She finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. She got to the line quite a bit as well where she hit 7 of her 9 attempts. She probably has the most upside when it comes to the Kentucky talent in this Junior class. A ton of people have compared her to South Carolina’s Zia Cooke. I can’t wait to see what her future holds as I’d imagine she will get a lot more recognition in her senior year.
Brie Crittendon (Ryle)
The one-two punch in junior guard Brie Crittendon and Oregon signee Maddie Scherr is fun to watch. Despite the loss, Brie played really well and earned the Co-Player of the Game award. She finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds. She did however have 7 turnovers. She needs to work on that going forward. Especially next year when Maddie Scherr leaves and Crittendon will most likely be the leader. She has a pretty shot and great attacking ability. Ryle struggled the entire game offensively. They need a lot more production from both Crittendon and Scherr if they want a chance to come out of their region.
Dynastee White (Butler)
The junior point guard continues to impress me every time I go see Butler play. She’s a pass-first player but she can also get her buckets as well. She finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Stuffing the stat sheet in anyway possible for her team to come out with the victory. Butler is filled with a very talented Junior class and Dynastee is one of the main reasons this team keeps on winning. Butler sits on top of the 6th Region Standings and currently ranked #3 in the Kentucky High School Girls AP Top 10. Butler has some quality competition in their region with Bullitt East and Mercy but they have all of the tools to come out of it.
