After notching an 83-23 win over region opponent Marcos de Niza at the MLK Dream Classic, they have a current record of 10-2 and are second in their region behind the highly dominant Sentinels of Seton Catholic Prep.
Saguaro has the talent needed to make it deep into the playoffs this year, and might even come out with an upset or two along the way. Here’s some takeaways from the game against Marcos de Niza
- Saguaro has a number of girls with the ability to score double digits
- The Sabercats had three players who scored ten or more points in the game. Amayah Kirkman had 23, Tranety Perkins had 20 and Jaya Huma had 13.
- Their aggressive defensive play the entire game might catch some teams off guard.
- Saguaro played hard defensively the entire game and didn’t let up. It didn’t matter how much they were up by, they never stopped pressing and trying to force a turnover or get the steal.
- Saguaro has great chemistry and is able to pass the ball around easily to set up plays.
- Ball movement was beautiful for the Sabercats on Monday. They were able to flow, with everything coming naturally. You can tell that the team has a good bond and solid communication skills.
This was a good win for Saguaro and sets them up with great momentum after suffering a tough loss to Flagstaff on Saturday. Saguaro continues
