Sandy’s Spiel Showcase Top Wings
2021 5-10 SG Ashuntee Weems – Douglass
Ashuntee Weems exploded for No. 1 Douglass in their win over Hart County. The long athletic wing piled in 27 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Her most impressive sequence was when she flew into a play to swat away a shot and then took it the distance for a layup. Offensively, Weems is all downhill. She is a slasher that gets to the rim and converts in traffic. Improving her outside shot will raise her stock. Defensively, she has good instincts and lateral quickness which helps her play the passing lanes.
2021 5-10 SG Jalisa Dunlap – ELCA
Dunlap, a big aggressive guard that transferred from Eagle’s Landing, put up 18 points in the Chargers loss to North Cobb. Dunlap hunted her offense throughout the game, mostly getting to the basket but also stepping out to hit two threes. She has a good motor and plays very hard. Her talent along with her demeanor has led to interest from Mercer and Middle Tennessee State.
2021 5-8 W Keslynn Oxendine – ELCA
Coming back from an ACL injury, Keslynn Oxendine showcased her basketball IQ and overall skill. Oxendine can do a little bit of everything when healthy. She can shoot the three, rebound and also has good court vision when finding teammates. She had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. A fully healthy senior season will raise her stock tremendously.
2020 5-8 G Morgan Manley – Lanier
The track star has turned into a pretty good basketball player. Morgan Manley has worked her way into becoming an invaluable piece for Coach Tim Slater, averaging a second-best 8.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Her quickness and nose for the ball puts her in the right place more often than not. The athletic off-guard had 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in a win over Elbert County.
2020 5-7 W Madison Edge – North Cobb
Part of North Cobb’s five-man rotation, Madison Edge serves as a defensive-minded wing that can slash to the basket. The lefty had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. She constantly was involved on the glass helping keep plays alive. She moves well defensively and can play multiple positions on both sides of the ball.
